Really creative, inventive, boundary pushing, intelligent & psychedelic music. Tommy is dead, Never turn u'r back & Soulgasm give me goose bumps.

For me this CD was an immense dissapointment.
After reading all the rave reviews i thought this was gonna be gr8. But now after numerous listens i realize i can never enjoy this album because of what it is trying to be. This is definately not how the first reviewer put at as satifying the infected itch. This does the exact opposite and actually irritates it even more making me realize that no one will ever achieve that level of musicianship that infected reached. Maybe if infected had never happened this would be kinda cool. The synths definately sound huge and there are some good ideas floating around but maybe if he didnt have so much of the classic infected sound and had some originalilty it would have been nice.
Everytime i listen to this i can only think of infected. And it doesnt help that 2 of the tracks have ripped melodies and parts right outa classical mushroom (Never turn your back has melodies right out of Bust a move and Consciousness had tunes from the shen). I was surprised noone else seems to have mentioned this.Youd think the least he could do is mention their name as his inspiration in the credits. Im sorry but this is just a wannabe infected mushroom. He may be talented and it sure sounds like it and there are some good moments in there, but this definately isnt unique or pushing boundaries or anything of the sort and i feel its wrong to suggest so. Maybe next time he could find his own sound and be a little more original.

First you expect and want to hear infected mushroom, then you complain it isn't as good as them, then complain it sounds too much like them? Try to take artists for what they are. Nystagmus is unique, influenced for sure, but I can't find another artist quite like him. I think he's original.

Also I find alot of people read reviews and then they listen to the album, attacking the album because the it didnt live up to those reviews. The reviews and what people say about music, is not the music itself, and likely not what the artist intended. Remember the artist wrote the music before anyone reviewed it... All Im saying is be alittle more objective before attacking some struggling artist

Hhhmm, this album doesn't remind me much at all of Infected Mushroom... Maybe a little on some of the melody lines but only a little...

Misted Muppet "From the Legend", or Synsun, sounds way more like IM than Nystagmus if you ask me...

Infected Mushroom has inspired pretty much everyone though to some extent - just like X-Dream did with "Radio"...

What's funny is that Infected Mushroom was accused of copying Hallucinogen when "The Gathering" was released...

I didn't like "The Immaculate Perception" that much the first couple times I heard it, but it really grew on me and is now one of my favorite psytrance albums ever - there's just an enormous amount of style in the music which is rare these days...

This album, along with the Talpa album are one of the few non-fullon and twisted psytrance albums around right now...

full on? what did you smoke man?

Well, you know, for many people psytrance consists of fullon and proggy meaning anything that's not proggy is fullon. Some people might still distinguish dark, but psychedelic? I guess, you have to know what psychedelic means by its true meaning ("soul revealing") to get the difference.

Anyway, sounds like an interesting album and it was recommended to me before. I'm looking forward to it...

Hm, never thought that.

Oh, yeah, or GMS with "Growly Family". What a year that was.

Really? Hahaha, no, not even close. Anyway, I don't think any artist can be purely "original". And why should he? Without some mutual influence we wouldn't even have a "scene" for that matter. I rather think that the urge to be as original as possible tends many artist (specially new ones) to become somewhat half-baked. Meaning, as long no one can really remember anything from your music, because it's basically just some chaotic mush, no one will blaime you for copying somebody else.

Well, I rather spot some influences from other artists in someones work than to be confronted with some expressionless work.

i love when peopel try to say that Nystagmus is Infected rip off. People said the same about talpa. funny how talpa album sounds nothing at all like Nystagmus album. I smell fogged perception somewhere around here.

Carry on good people

First of all I think the keyword here is Inspired
Second, if you listen to some of the tracks on his album,
you will hear clearly that he has had some fun and aped after tracks like Ie. 'The Shen' of Infected Mushroom. The build up, the melody.
It's like a pure remake (Thinking about the track that imitates 'The Shen').
But again, Inspired / influenced.

Heard Nystagmus for the first time up in Vancouver, and I was quite impressed! Nice stuff, unique for sure.

I really didn't hear anything Infected-sounding...

I dug the track with what sounded like an electric bass guitar for the bass, played in the slap style. (I'm a bassist...)           .

I was also surprised no one mentioned that the melodies of conciousness is almost exact like The Shen of infected's

This is a very good album. It has a concept, it has musicality, it has depth, it has a twist, and it makes you think and feel.
Very recommended.           ---------------------------------------------
