Hello everyone,
2003 is almost history.
The forum is quite busy in picking dj, performances etc...
I was woundering if there is a place i could check numbers.
The numbers i'm talking about r number of cd's each artist sold in the past year, it will give us more accurate figures of what pepole r thinking.
Have anyone bumped into this kind of info? know where 2 find it?

You wont be able to get these numbers. The only one that know are the distributors and labels and they do not publish the numbers online or give out the number whoever that want them. |

if psytrance albums sells good i guess it could be something like 5000 sold copies..
if psytrance album sells bad then it'll be just a few hundred copies..
if psytrance album sells really good it can be up to 20 000 copies.. though i'd say there are only a ten or so psytrance albums that have sold that well..
pure guess though..
am i even close?

traveller, I'd say u are pretty much right, I would say that their are mainly 2 causes for this:
1) mp3 (said enough of that)
2) channels of distribuition are poor in some countries specially where trance has grown enourmusly in the past couple few yrs, a good example of this is the amount of ppl from brazil who complain about not being able to get albums, could be an excuse in the end 
Reno_k it would not be a ethical thing to do in my point of view, cuz many ppl would judge the best and the worst based on those figures

Neutron i disagree with on how this kind of info will effect pepole's votes and so.
This kind of info represent currectly what pepole think/thought about this year albums.
But i guess we'll keep wounder...

Maybe labels don't release information about copies sold 'cos if they did they'd have to accurately account to their artists?
Plus artists and labels have egos to feed; it's not easy to be a big-shot trance artist if everyone knows your last album didn't sell enough copies to cover costs...

Traveller there is no way a psy trance album will sell 20000 copies.
This applies only to 3-4 artists like Astral Projection,Infected Mushroom and people like these.
A good psy trance album will sell something like 4000-5000 copies maximum according to my knowledge and discussions that i had with 'big names' of the scene.
A good compilation from a big label can sell something to 4000 copies also maximum.
Albums sell more than compilations by the way.
Sorry but the psy trance scene is really small

20.000 for sphongle AND astral its possible
also big artists can sell up to 10.000 copies (like gms and so on...)
in general 5000 is a good number and few hundred copies is the bad number!!
thats my knowledge on it.... |

thats a stupid truth that make a big inflation on a market. never got why its work this way but i guess its same reasons as ppl prefer pay double payment and bring fake 1 hour live act and not half price good dj.
