Welcome to my 2 cents regarding trance music nad the temporary loss of faith within it.

Lately as many of you my friends know, ive been sliding towards other genres than trance music, well mostly proggressive is my cup of tea to be honest... I got the feeling so many times that i need to do something else than this. Find something else to do...
Kept thinking what the %¤"& this aint going anywhere, what to do? what to do?

Anyways i went thru my cd´s and started listening to some... and kazaaaam im into the game again... how come nostalgia is so powerful?

Some of the stuff i listened to were:

VA - Amalgamated Amalgamation (HOM-mega)
Son Kite - Perspectives Of... (mpdqx)
Ticon - Rewind (mpdqx)
VA - FX (iboga)
Vibrasphere - Lime Structure (mpdqx)
VA - A Step Beyond Session Vol. 1 (zma)

and others...

now to the question:

What do you listen to when you wanna get back on track???

the mind associates memories with emotions. for you perhaps those cd's meant more then just music - it was a time where something significant happend to you. perhaps you were younger and more impressionable, perhaps it was your first experiences with certain sounds... maybe you went through some good changes... some things are therefore "engraved" in the brain.
the same holds true for many other thing in retrospect... take for example an old girlfriend youre thinking about... things look alot "pinker" in nostalgie.... this is cause we remember what we like and forget the rest. if you think about it hard enough you will remember what you didnt like about that girl but it wont come to mind unless you really dig... first you will surely feel the "i miss her, things were so good" part.

so the same goes for music in my opinion... if i put on Hallucinogen - LSD or some old Juno Rector... immediately my memory jumps to a time where all of this was new and fresh to me, a time when i didnt know too much, nor was i concerned with it... its a blissful memory...
thats my view on it...

Both Hallucinogen albums are something I frequently listen to when I need to "get back in shape". Besides those, the two compilations from Twisted, Dementertainment and Demented, are fairly played much at my place as well. These pieces makes my brain go nuts of nostalgia...

Some other memorable releases...
V/A - Goa Classix (the first one has an awesome tracklist)
Astral Projection - Another World
TIP Orange, Blue and Yellow (probably the best series ever )
Battle of the Future Buddhas - Twin Sharkfins
The Infinity Project - Feeling Weird
Shulman - Soundscapes and modern tales

And also some memorable tracks...
Ka-Sol - Earth (docklands a state of mind 2)
X-Dream - The 5th dimension
Solar Quest - Acid Air Raid
Analog Pussy - Future (this one's a new one, but it still makes me think of past days...)

All of those are certified retro herbs

thats's becuase the sexual element. u slept with her, u could reproduce with her, it was there, u had it, u might get it back, thats why these memories come back, especially when ur alone and horny mostly. or in need for sex or intimacy ( as in creating life )

and regarding the TOPIC, dude. go out in nature on a bike, put some trasnce u love on your ipod/c.d/mp3 player whatever and u will feel the power again, didit this week and it ruled. and i actually played quite new and crappy music
but it was great combined with nature and the bike.

old infected, shiva space technology 'old school' V/A, old psysex, hallucinogen... and a whole lot of other stuff, but that's all that comes to mind for now...

u got a point though, i also feel like the musci loses its grip on me and i go back to other stuff for a while (electro, doors, air, beatles...) but always end up crawling back with the right stuff playing.

When I want to recharge my trance appetite, I listen to other genres, like some celtic folk, prog rock, alternative rock, jazz, anything else. Eventually I start to crave to massive beat and reverse sucking sounds.

oh yes, this gets an airing now and then, and every time I listen to it I can't believe the magic of it all...

Both Hallucinogen albums of course
Noosphere - Radiated... simply deep and delicious
T.I.P - Phosphorescent compilation - real psychedelic music
Hux Flux - Crypric Crunch - man, this guy knows how to spin your brain inside out..
Vibrasphere - Abra - incredible lush journeys from deep chill to progressive deeps
TIP - Mystical Experiences - truly a masterpiece..

All these oldies shine through in my growing music collection and I will be listening to them when I'm old and grey

Thats funny you should mention TIP Mystical Experiences...thats what im listenin to right now. i agree with you, killer album. Everyone remembers what first got them into psy, and everyone longs for that feeling...that feeling of something new and exciting. something different. Not your every day MTV muthafucka! The only reason you stop progressing and want to look elsewhere musically is because of yourself. a change happened in you. i dont think its the music...Just listen to the music the way you did when you felt it most...and listen to it like that all the time : )           ----------
