so there is nobody in the whole isratrance who can tell me what is thebest way to get from rishikesh to tibet? i prefer walking....and i prefer small villages and native people instead of hotels. i am okey with sleeping outside under the sky as well. but i hate coldness.
so, anyone has an advice? no on knows?

from india its gona be a task , get to china , get a permit better .. from India , nathu la pass from the far eastern state of Sikkim or arunachal , but the scene is very tense , with china claiming it as its own territory recently , it should be closed , from nathu la will be also difficult , last year was this big rally from Delhi to nathu la , the tibs wanted to cross peacefully and go and claim back Tibet but the Indian army didn't let them thru , .. go to Nepal and get Chinese visa , and don`t be wearing free tibet t shirts in china

i dont think ur allowed to enter into tibet from India unless ur going to Mansarovar (that too only 400 ppl. are allowed every year)
the best way to go to tibet is via nepal, get an chinese visa & enter through the friendship highway

but is there no way to go straight north to tibet? i would be happy to go through nepal as well. but china - hey ...this is really not a place i would like to see right now. not even slightly.....
cant i just go north? i am reading a book right now about the himalayas and the sadhus and it is written there that it is even better to go to north india where the tibetan buddhism has still been protected and kept alive which is not really the case in most places in tibet....
and dalai lama is not even in tibet mk:)
these chinese visa : can get it in nepal?

i dont think ur understanding the point i m tryin to put across!
there are atleast 10 ways to get into tibet from india but noone is allowed to go from there
i dont know if ur aware that Tibet is an integral part of china!
so if u want to go to tibet u've to get an chinese visa!
& if u want to see Tibetan Buddhism in India u sud visit the following places
Dharamsala, Mclord Ganj (Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh)
Tabo Monastery, Dhankar Monastery, Ki Monastery, & few others (Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh)

Im more than aware of that , where did I say he`s in Tibet ? , anyway , like it or not , you will need a Chinese visa . or go to spiti , like s_s_a mentioned , amazing vibe there , McLeodganj is just a tourist trap now .

last question.
i was thinking about the vaccines. can anyone leaving europe or the states tell me about the present situation with the vaccines for india ? are you going to have vaccines ?
i am worried about this whole vaccine conspiracy with the influenza and so on. from all sides we hear that it is real poison. what about the rest of the vaccines that we usually have on leaving europe? do you use them??
how is the situation with the swine flu in india at the present time? i am asking cause the 20 millions of people on kumbha mela are definitely the best possible place for a virus to spread......
would be very thankful for an answer.

they ask you to sign a little statement saying you don`t have it and let you thru , don`t need any vaccine certificates etc , I personally feel swine flu is a load of bollocks , be completely unafraid , its all lies
