I can personally say that Ive seen about 4 times the amount of visiting acts in North America in the past 2 years than Iv'e seen from 98-2002. I've seen promoters pop up all over the place, and I've seen the # of people supporting the scene here greatly increase. All of you people who live here keep it up and show your thanks to those who are making it happen...also NEVER GIVE UP ON ROCKING!!!!!

Arkansas has been doing psy parties for 5 years I am told. They just are, well, in Arkansas.

We (subconscious collective) did an all psy party last year called MAGE (Midwest Annual Goa Experience) to expose people to a full on psy event and are doing MAGE 2 this year for more

We have thrown rave events for 6 years and have had a psy dj at almost all our parites (starting from the first one). But I was "trained" in San Fran from '91 to '96 and developed a love for psy before I knew what to call it thanks to Goa Gil

Still working on convincing the rest of our collective to do more psy events, hopefully MAGE 2 proves they are viable in Iowa.

The psy energy is awesome here though!
Last month we had Kaiser Soze play and people were chanting, "Psy Psy Psy" and giving him high-fives hehe. Total awesomeness.

They also have a group called Midwest Burners (www.midwestburners.com) who do burning man pre & after events that have a lot of psy at their events (usually a psy area).

So yeah, would totally love a midwest psy scene because the people are so down to earth here and the energy pretty pure. People just like to go out and have fun to dance and no drama compared to the bigger scenes (at least in Iowa).

it would be much better to see more foreign djs and live acts in america. there're quite a number of parties going on here and there but they mostly feature local talents. it's good to give domestic djs a green light but it'd been much more educative and enterntaining to get to hear israeli, european, australian artists as well.

the scene is still not big enough to support bringing many international talents in because there just arent enough ppl to fill it up.... local djs are good. and organizations bring as many live acts/djs from around the globe as they can afford.
i think thigns would be improved if organizers from around the country shared plane tickets and brough artists in to go on a sort of "tour." i know this has been done in the past but i think better networking ie on isratrance would help the scene grow even more.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

I am also curious what foreign people expect in payment too with playing at parties that draw 30000 people in Europe

I would much rather support US artists anyways

I also refuse to get DJs with agents too (at least unless I talk to the DJ first, lost thousands to shady agents ), so guess we won't get too many of them here in Iowa (as if we could support it with our small scene anyways

this is a really good idea. there's a steady demand for artists from abroad in most major cities across the country so why not to share expenses?

There are a lot of parties happening in the west coast for a while. We had all the artists playing in the world circuit here along with our local dj's. The quality of the performances we locals do here are as good as theirs and sometimes even better. If we want to make the scene grow we need to support ourselves. We have very good artists here and we don't get booked to any of the parties outside the west coast. We get more booked in mexico and they get booked here than the rest of the U.S. There are o lot of good artists and Dj's here in LA, for example, and they have been playing in the world circuit and connected to big labels. This country is huge and we could have all the Dj's/Artists rotating the country and that is the way to make the scene grow here. It won't cost as much as flying somebody from another continent. The key is to throw well organized parties treating the people the way you like to be treated with good music (which we already have here in this country) and the people will always enjoy attending the events...That's the way it has grown everywhere in the world...from within...

growing from within...thats beautiful

I definitely agree with that

California alone has at least 10 released psytrance artists, some with albums, some that have travelled the world circuit playing their own music. All N.A. artists and Dj's combined provides a hell of a lot of music to keep parties going.

Overseas talent is good to bring over as far as keeping scenes globally connected and exposing good music, but not necessary to enlarge the scene or have good music.

this is not a new idea, it is actually something we did at Ecliptic Trance with the west coast.
the idea is to have a good name, since someone on the other side needs to be able to trust you with their event's main act... there arent many east coast promoters that are able to work with the west coast in this way.

I have to agree with Ricardo on that. There is a an abundance of good promoters and Djs here in the west. And it does amaze me how often a promoter who is on the same continent would rather pay for an international flight instead of a US mainland flight which are mounds cheaper. Bodhi is right too. There are alot of good producers as well, and I also agree that having International artist play is an important part of the growth. But we need to have more faith in our own talents. So what if your small or big crowd has not heard of ..."fill in the balnk" The chances you take could save you money and MIGHT help your scene wherever it is!Promoters tend to be know for who they bring and the type of atmosphere that is provided at their parties. Mixing it up, exposing new talents, or quality existing talent, can only be a good thing.           http://soundcloud.com/djkiva

I am always on the lookout for new people to bring by Iowa that will work cheaply from north america

Especially since I do not get out to the coasts maybe once every other year or so. Feel free to pm or email me (eklypz17@yahoo.com) in the direction of mixes to be exposed to good North America talent for future events! (or a webpage that lists North American psy djs/acts If all goes well with MAGE2 I think I can convince my crew to "let" me do more all psy events, although almost every party we have thrown over the last 6 years has had a psy dj playing alongside other electronic music djs(most people think they are playing techno though hehe)
