In my humble opinion, Trent Reznor is the most amazing composer and electronic musician i have ever heard in my life. I remember thinking when "The downward Spiral" was big that there would be no way to top that, but when "The Fragile" was released in 1999, i was blown away. it is such a comprehensive, ever changing, thought provoking, perfectly engineered master piece. I'm looking forward to hearing his new album, but from what i've heard its going to be a totally different feel from the last couple albums.....i just hope it lives up to his name

I used to listen to "The Downward Spiral" for about 2 years every day when it first came out. I never found an album i liked better. Every second of it is just so interesting and inspiring, the most amazing and profound work, in the lyrics, composition and production, indeed a masterpiece.
'The Fragile' is also very good, but didn't touch me the way the Spiral did (except 'The Great Below').
Nine Inch Nails are alone up there in their own league, i can't imagine them not living up to their name in the future, (a new album with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) on the drums is on it's way...)

Yeah N.I.N are awesome, saw them live in 1998 and they blew me away... had my cd collection stolen a few months back and was sad that all my electronica went missing with it,including all N.I.N albums excpet for their live cd, which is pretty good init's own right... will be very interested to hear their new works, very inspiring music.

mm... just listen to what Trent Reznor did to 'Marilyn Manson - AntiChrist Superstar'

Simply the most amazing rock album of all time, in my opinion.

But when it comes to NIN's ambient tracks.. wOw.. They make me feel so good and sad at the same time

First of all, Marilyn Manson never left 'Nothing Records'
and Hell Yhea!.. Trent Reznor realy made Manson world wide famouse. Manson would be nothing without Trent.
But do you really think that 'Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals' sucks? I really disagree.. I think its a beautiful album, with lots of "mechanical" feelings. It's the album that changed my life.
Before 'Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals', I only listened to (not liked, but listened to) crappy eurodance and so on (this is MANY years ago). That album made me realize that music can change people. It can make a person feel happy again, get back faith in life. So you see.. I became a rocker, and now i'm a psytrancer.. (hehe, no i dont have any personality problems ) Thats the album that started it all for me.
But everybody is intitled to their own opinion of cource...

Also a huge NIN fan. I really do think Trent is a genius. First time I heard Pretty Hate Machine I was completely blown away and hooked on his work.

It is funny you mention liking NIN so much JViolet, when I first heard Violet Vision was right after listening to Further Down the Spiral for the first time in years. The first thought in my head was "ooh hell yeah, this is definately NIN influenced.."

it is strange how every discussion about NIN, in the past 3-4 years, has something to do with Marilyn Manson...other than all the gossip, i can't find anything related (although i think 'mechanical animals' is a great album - and a great concept)
Reconstructed - funny you should mention 'Further down the spiral' in regards to Violet Vision, it's the one album I've been digging through when meeting Shay and starting the whole violet thing... I'll second that; "ooh hell yeah, this is definitely NIN influenced"

In my own eyes (ears?) the best of NIČ is 'Pretty Hate Machine'. Deep depression mood with some hysterical moments. It filled with such suffering and such soul disturbance that there was a time when I asked myself before re-listening: 'Hey man, are you sure that you REALY want to feel it again?'

i first saw "head like a hole" on mtv's "headbangers ball" back in 1990, i was blown away as well... it was nin who guided me through some years growing up, i think i had the first 5 halos and then the downward spiral, a masterpiece indeed. im with you vector, this man has done amazing things.
my fav. is still wish to this day.          "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Been thinking and listening to Manson and NIN in the "good ol' days" .. And the thing that runs throu my head the most. I would have loved to see NIN live when Marilyn Manson was the "warming up band" for them. Wow.. HAs anyone in this forum experienced this? please tell me about it

And vector_O; Have you given Mech. Animals another listen? Just wondering.

*sorry for talking about Manson in a NIN thread. But i loved Manson since many years ago. And there is no other place for me to talk about him with psy people*
