I noticed lots of Dark Psy really doesn't contain much spooky or scary sounds, but to me is filled with real harsh metallic, industrial sounds.

As Dark refers to 'negative' and 'scary' and dark emotions in my opinion, and so much DarkPsy music really doesn't connect to the above words, I think a sub style in the Psytrance scene, called 'IndustrialPsy', might be a better name for that sort of music.

Or not?

Not. This keeps coming up: is "darkpsy" genuinely dark? No, a lot of it is merely noise on top of a beat. I've advocated for the use of "psycore" to describe all that high-tempo (150+) aggressive stuff that keeps coming out, but this is probably splitting hairs. That being said, the name of a genre doesn't need to perfectly describe the music associated with it.

Me too..

And with the comment on scary sounds, scary is fine as long as it's sort of creepy in a fun way..I understand what you mean with tracks with samples from horror movies of people being killed and stuff, but I don't think all dark psy is intentionally scary as much as weird and slightly creepy
Another subgenre would just make more people intentionally try to go for one sound that's already being done by other artists, and that's the last thing I want.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

Since he's from Holland as well, he's probably thinking in terms of the hardcore scene, where they have a lot of subgenres, like Speedcore, Darkcore, Industrial, Terror, Extratone etc.

While in hardcore that seems to work remarkably well, I still think that in psytrance something like that would probably just get confusing.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

I think it's difficult at times to fit a name to music ... or music to a name especially in our genre and age. What does one do when the music doesn't fit!? Thank goodness for creative minds!

We have named our genre of tracks that we create (psychedelic-agressive) as 'psygressive'

thanks to: die einstuerzende neubauten, kmfdm, nine inch nails, autechre, juno reactor, aphex twin, quality psytrance is what it is today.
so yes, there are industrial elements in psytrance.
in minimal aussie/oz (zenon, ccr, etc.) and other various tech-trance mostly as mentioned above. or maybe even in night psytrance (sanaton, parvati, etc.) which is rare but used very well and that makes it sound pure and not dark imo. deep? oh yes!
i sometimes even mix the word intelligent with industrial dance music...but that's just me           https://www.facebook.com/lotusfeetrecs | http://soundcloud.com/younion
