I havent heard the CPC album, but to me Xyla's album is straight up industrial/ Hard EBM. I wouldn't have ever thought of it to be psy trance unless it was made by Xyla. It just doesnt have that Psy trance feel to it and to me a dance music genre should be labelled not by mood or texture but its feel.

Hence why psy trance is psy trance and dark/industrial/psycore/twilight/morning arent really genres, but fitting descriptions for a mood rather than a different groove form. For example the music which has become commonly known as progressive, has a different behaviour in the grooving sense.

i don't agree.... i bought the xyla album...which is quite a good album
and it's the only crossover between EBM and psytrance that is a true crossover.....
a friend of mine played the last track of the xyla album on a EBM-party a few weeks ago and the crowd didn't like it all, really nobody was dancing to this. it has to many psytrance influences....           Ain-Soph (Trancebum Productions / Freakdance Records)

I'm sorry but you're confusing EBM (front242, nitzer ebb, and one) and powernoise (iszoloscope, kiew, terrofakt)... For some reason they play both genres in those kind of parties but many people don't like them both.

Anyways I think 2000-01 circa trance was very industrial-ish, think of Atomic, D.Drum and Aurinko records. Personally those were the golden years for me

How come people didn't run around trying to create new genre names 5 years ago when artists like Opsis and his Time Means Nothing album came out? The blurb for that release calls it something between "the hard stuff and full on".
Take a listen. One of the heaviest "full on" albums I've heard.

@psyderella, I was just pointing out that when that album came out, no one needed to find a genre name for it, even though it was very unique. These days it seems people are needing to find labels for every artist, for some reason. If that album came out today I can imagine all the labels they would put on it.
You are right, the machines are connected to him. Some of my favorite music.

soulfood... check out 'Ueber Den Angst ' then. It's heavily inclined to russian style psychedelic trance with all 18 tracks mixed... very unique album. (and still available online)

the only dark stuff that sounds vaguely like industrail is the experimental styles of Infect Insect...

mstother dark psy is just mix of glitch and full on... just coz it's fast and the sound move around at a million miles an hour doesn't makeit bad music or industrial tinged... it's just fast psytrance... if you bother to research the histor of the darker side, you'll hear heaps of stuff actually sounds like faster version of some of the better goa sounds... like Sandman and Xenomorph           www.earthcore.com.au

The industrial sound has been in for a while. Its all a part of the psychedelic spectrum anyhow. the best example of industrial oriented psytrance today wold be Ghreg on Earth. Very industrial yet highly psychedelic. then te master prolly started it all, Xenomorph, Mubali to name a few!

what is the meaning of naming with so many sub-genters? it is psychedelic trance and all that matters is the quality of the music ...

imo as many sub-genters exist the less is the possibility to promote the good music for people with different tastes. when somebody labels you like ''industrial'' or ''dark'' etc. automatically the number of the interested will drop and in this time when we have a huge number of releases daily i don't see it as a good promotion

so basically i see this sub-genders very harming for the quality music           ---
