The politics of psytrance are almost idiotic enough to overshadow the sheer brilliance in SOME of the art that comes out of it.

Right on! I think its crazy that you all are heated by the title of this mix and the little bit said not. Everything has to be an issue just because its typed. I think if youd ask someone from india I think theyd say that "the real spirit of goa" has absolutely nothing to do with electronic music at all. and the fact that people are arguing is sad and silly. stop this....stop it....stop. st...sssss..... would you all be having this conversation and arguing to eachothers faces if we were all standing around at a fest? nah. ssssss..... top it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it's one thing to have a sense of humor, it's another thing to keep getting poked in the same spot in the ribs without eventually getting pissed about it. It would be like me going on here and posting a mix titled non-cheese trance... I understand where you are coming from kri, but you of all people should know that people sometimes take something they hold dear, such as music or what brings them to a spiritual place, very seriously. It seems that when someone looks like they are intentionally attempting to antagonize someone, whether or not that is actually the case, of course the people who are opinionated about a particular subject will get up in arms about it... I mean come on... You kinda had to expect such a response... but at the same time a lot of people are checking out this thread and I applaud for that, but perhaps the us trend of shock marketing isn't the way to get your point across.

In my book, there's 2 types of music, music I am really into and music I'm really not into... I respect everyone's taste and think that everyone's taste can completely work together, as long as everyone is willing to accept the fact that their taste in music is exactly that. And my taste probably isn't yours, and that's ok with me....

Brett, you are the king of antagonizing people, and almost single-handedly started the trauma trance subgenre, thank you for being you...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

The party was really fun before all the Otto, Jimbo, Snake, and Sideshow Bob types found out about it, muscled in, and crashed it. I'd glad I got to experience a little glimpse of the original vibe.

@DMT... Couldnt agree more.

@Brett... LOL

I agree with Mubali 100 percent... for the amount of time you've been here... and the amount of horse dung I'm sure you've had to sift through when it comes to people giving their 2bit version of a review of your work and LOVE IN LIFE... I would be annoyed and probably pissed off by now also...

Don't let it get to you... besides we dont want your fan base getting too big anyways... you're ours! haha!

Moving On now...

brett, what the missionaries says if they want to steal the widow's farmland? they say that the widow is a witch. so, you are not much different than those missions, eventho you don't realize that you are a part of the mission (i mean as a tool), it was washed and planted to your very edges of the very origin of your dna. especially the way you says about the sado-machocistic words, i thinks you got a talent to move to roman elitez. what happen if i have to says that samadhi means death (that will never comeback physically), not off the board in meditation? i am worry if some other people will got stabbed in their soul even they see and state it from the different angle, not to mention sub-angles that could turn into something unexpectable and unique. so let us just let the wheel turn... don't blame each other
should i say amen?          protect your soul, not your believe, neither your tribe!

I once read that the mark of a healthy culture is the ability to make fun of itself.

If that is indeed the case we're all fucked.

i think some people here need to lay off the pyschedelics and go to a bar and get wasted, take things less serious.

Are you guys still in this discussions. Trance this trance that... harmony/melody/dissonance/noise... In the end all this talk, just makes it so boring... picking on every lil detail, analyzing it all. And it is not just politics, but sometimes I feel it is more fun to setup a party and meet some defenitelly cool people, than playing or dancing to this ultradefined, ultraanalyzed monolythic sets.

No surprises. And people still tell me, but there is prograssive, chill, dark, full on, dark full on, housey booty... in the end it has the same sounds, basslines, percussion, measures, programming, filters, effects... Like in every art there is some outstanding parts of the experience in itself, but as this dialectic continues... with the vs discourses... and the probing, testing and analizing and all this bullshit... yes the bullshit science to come up with the universal laws of trance hit parades, behavior of a trancer, trends and compliance laws for the proper psychedelic trance experience.

Just stop. go through your bottomless terabyting music libraries and add a bit of variety to most times unidimensionally niched sets, which sometimes equate to the overwhelming sensation of surprise an 80 year old has when the tooth faery leaves a dollar under his/her pillow. Not fun anymore... no secrets, no innocence.

I would love to see a psychedelic trance party without "psychedelic trance". It is possible, I have seen it happen!

Darkpsy apologists always sound so eloquent.... making black seem white... but the crux of the the darkpsy vibe seems to be like limbo: "How low (of a vibration) can you go?" How menacing and overpowering can we crank this thing... whether it's a buzzkill or not ?

I think it has to do with the drugs - and people getting burned out and desensitized after being involved with loud music and careless neurological imprints. And some people getting back to their industrial roots and just need it really hard.. and are thrilled they don't have to put up with the psychedelic hippie magic stuff anymore...and if they play louder the sun will never rise.

Now a lot of the people that used to go to trance parties don't go anymore... and fans of other genres of psychedelic and electronic music avoid psytrance like the plague... describing it as "a city bus ride to hell."

But if those trauma trance .mp3s taught me anything... I guess there is beauty in the disintegration, the dischord, and the decay of things that used to seemed magic and "too good to be true"... And an irony in watching it now embraced by the trenchcoat mafia and the thugs-in-tiedye.

I've learned that it isin't all pearls and silicon... it has a HUGE shadow side...

And I'm learning that growing out of something can be just as amazing and eye-opening as first discovering it.

that was awesome BfT.

and i agree with everything. it definitely has to do with the drugs.

except that....

...More than just thugs in and out of trenchcoats/tiedye support dark psy. However, I will say there are a lot of them. But they're not so bad are they? lol

i kid, i kid.

i especially liked the last part Brett - pure poetry in your words. muah. manifique.
