A good friend of mine was at NAMM & had a quick play. He was very disappointed. He said it felt like a child's, easily breakable and very plastic. The keys were not fun to play, very small and no depth to them. The sound was great but he said you would be in his opinion better off to buy some proper modules that replicate the MS20. He did say the sub phatty was great in comparison for value for money. I'm definitely going to grab the sub phatty when it's out here in Australia as I love the moog sound & it's a step up from the Minitaur for sure and I want the Moog sound in my studio

MS-20 mini holds no interest for me whatsoever. I wished they'd made it a bit more sturdier with better keys. I'd have easily paid another $200-300 for that alone.           Cuntus Maximus.

Some classic synths are plastic and felt like toys, Roland SH-101, TB-303, they did last for decades though. Time will tell how well the new MS-20 is built.

I can see why a skilled keyboard player would protest to the smaller keyboard, me I am not a skilled keyboard player and these keys will do just fine.

The sound and the programability are the most important things to me and from the looks and sounds of it, the new MS-20 ticks both boxes, at an extremely low price.

The SubPhatty is a great synth as well, although having a Slim Phatty and a Minitaur, I will not be buying it. One thing they have done is that they (apparently) dropped OSC2 as a mod source, and I rely heavily on that option for FX in my tunes. Having OSC2 modulate the VCF at self oscillation, then assign the LFO to cut-off for some rhythmic, MIDI synced patch (and then also feed that into the MF-102) to create retro sci-fi FX clangy/metallic sounds, is one of my favorite things about my Slim Phatty.

yeah the lack of modulation and cv in/ out is really a turn off on the sub phatty.. best moog to get for me would be the slim.. or cover that sound in modular form, it will probably sound better than moog modern synths but cost more.

on the ms20 build quality if it don't break easily it s not much a problem for me that if it feel cheap (many analog do..) but let see when trying it..

Well, the SubPhatty is still a great instrument. Its like a Moog SH-101, brand new, with full MIDI implementation, VCO phase re-trigger and a great sound. If I did not have the Slim Phatty and Minitaur, I would be all over the SubPhatty...even if it has not CV/Gate outputs...someone would be able to mod it if I wanted them desperately.

Interested to hear a total of 6 VCOs into a resonant analog high pass filter and sweep the cut-off

Might as well add the x0xb0x in and make the VCO count into 7.

Saw off the keyboard innit

But as Will said, at that price I can use the keyboard as an ashtray and incense table, enough space to leave my phone on there as well...
