have a listen and choose the one you like the best, never used the kh but i think the bm6a would probably be more suited in the low end just by checking the spec

thinking of switching from adam a7 (oldschool) to dynaudio bm6as myself.

that being said, highly recommend owning a pair of adams if you never have. the top end is just phenomenal; i've never heard anything like it. stupidly detailed; but definitely useful. my only misgiving is that they lack power in the subs that i want... i also believe the dynaudios would do well in that regard.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

yeah if you can keep the a7 they will complement well each other you wont regret it, it s easier to get things sound as 75% done on the dyns and do detailed tweaking on the adam imo, fine tuning eqs,compressors..

i think i have decided the a7x.... if i had the money i d go the focal solo or if i had even more...focal twin....

but i decided going to a7x and get synth..

i have done long research coz i dont have the option to test monitors...

i have a behringer truth b2031a.... i like them but i reached a moment that i feel limited by them... i wanna hear more detail freqs so i can learn mix better... i wanna practice mix listenin the truth instead of keep learning to adapt the mixin comparin other sources to fit the flaws of the monitor..

anyway..now talkin bout the research...

from the mid range series of low bucket to mid bucket...

the focal solo and the focal twins are rockin the floor

everybody who ows them loves them...you cant possible find bad reviews of them...

from those top series there are also the adam s2x s3x

or from dynaudio bm15a...(this one i think ur room needs to be kind big )

then going a little lower in price but still very good on quality... u have

adam a7x... prob the most popular decent quality for a good price nowadays... people talk very good of them and they upgraded the flaws the a7 series used to be known as lack of extended low freqs and agresive high frequencies...

but the new models used to be comon to come with a problem...port noise that would be solved usin a sub and cutin the low freqs of the monitor or you could just exchange them or u could open them and try to verify what was causin the problem and fix it...

but it seems that problem s not comon nowadays..

then u have the famous dynaudio bm6 series... mk1 and mk2...

people loves the old generation for eletronic music...the mk1...but keep in mind that nowadays they are realy over priced...and bein old generation many people think they are not worth...

the new generation... mk2 people consider it good.. and its cheaper than mk1 BUT beetween mk1 and other brands..people prefer to stick with other brands like adam a7x...

then u have the ones from focal... focal cms 65 ... its not so popular but very praised aswell... ( keep in mind that the focal solo rocks that one )
and its around the price of adam a7x and dynaudio bm6a ( adam a7x s a little cheaper ).The focal cms 65 it seems u d be gettin a more detailed mid than the adam a7x...but very slighjly...but the adam a7x would have better low freq...

then beetween those 2 gaps u have other brands that are considered good quality aswell like genelec , tannoy , KH but not that popular so considerin that i couldnt test the monitors i did quick research on those so cant talk bout them besides they seem very good aswell..

and then there are the cheaper ones.. but considerin u are stickin beetween those u dont want the cheaper ones...

( all my opinion are based on long research on the internet )

anyway if u can test them .... its a good way of choosin

and if more people could talk bout monitors would be nice..

those neuman u mentioned have small woffer..

5.25" Woofer

if u dont have a sub maybe it would be a too smal of a woofer to detail low freq..

i wouldnt choose something lower than 6" but i may be wrong coz i never heard that monitor.

yeah that why i think they wont be great wihtout a sub for the low end, but in the mids and highs they may be better than the dyns,it can be easier to have great mids on small woofer

Tnx for the replays people.. my brother had the adam a7 i didn't like them much (no bass!!) so maybe they fix that with adam a7x but the whole port noise thing i dont know something not right to me.. the dyn's r my favorite at the moment but i will check all of them in store. the focal i dont think we have here will check that. what do u think about producing with a sub ? suck? oh Vermee, what synth u gonna get?

if you think about it , in any system a sub can t hurt as you can turn it off , it s one more reference... you wont feel 30 hz the same on a 12 inches woofer than on 6 or 8 ones, now if it s necessary to feel 30 hz..it better to have the choice to hear it or not ,it change the dynamic it can help to balance the mix for bass heavy music , but how good it will sound depend a lot about your room.
ina good room i would use a sub even with bm6a,focal solo, genelec 8040a.. all monitors unders 2000 euros i heard could benefit from a sub to check the deep low and get the dynamic/depth of biger speakers .
i m begining to wonder if nearfeald is well suited for electronic, i serisoulsy think middle field monitoring might be way better specailly for pa translation .

Some month ago I bought the Adam A7X and one onf my speaker is still suffering from Port noise at some kick Samples.

Are the Dynaudio or KRK free from such issues ?
How do they compare to the Adam.           http://facebook.com/ansolas

might depend at what level you listen but never heard any port noise in my adam, focal and in bm6a and other monitors i used but i don t listen at very high volume. i think my sub produced once some port noise i had the level turned up a lot and played a one shot kick , got a tinitus/ringing, kind of headache after it , it was freaking loud felt the sub on my body and the presure on my ears i had to stop working on sound for 2 or 3 days after that, i gess any monitors with bass reflex and deep low would produce port noise at these levels

about the thread if you can find the adam p22 add the sub to them. i picked them over bm6a,focal solo, genelec 8040,mackie hr824 ... the 8 vifa woofer make this speaker dont sound like other adam,it have a good vibe, but still very accurate, but imo they need the sub for a really good set up
