Dont go for Rokits

they get noise problems overtime, overdub bass that confuses the mix...

soon i will get an yamaha HS80...its cheap and i heard its pretty decent for begninners           https://soundcloud.com/ancientaliengoa

When u consider upgrading to a more professional monitor, the neumann kh120's are untouchable at their price, superior sound to Adam, Dynaudio and Event.. If paired with the sub you have a ridiculously good sounding set up

I cant never understand when people said ''get a sub'' especially when we speak about 7"-8" monitors.

i can imaging the really mess when you try to tweak it with your monitors...

Personaly i dont know anyone that use sub! And i speak about well known artists here!

Just treat your room good and you have nothing to worry about...thats all!

As much as you increase the volume on a small room more reflexion will hit you, and cause you to have a bad image of the sound and it doesnt matter how good the monitor is or how much expensive it was, you will end up with unbalanced mixes

i would recomend you a nearfield monitor, no more than 5 or 6 inches and avoid to play it full power, specialy if you cant put the monitors away from walls...

Hang a Curtain across the short part of the room next to yuor door then fire your monitors down the long section.

Treat all corners with wedges, add a cloud above listening position treat back of room (the wall behind your head) with diffraction, treat all 1st/2nd reflection areas (use the mirror trick to work them out) and have reflection/absorption behind both speakers.

I think all the brands listed here are good, as I know people working with them with a very focused sound and clean mix, and making real money in gigs. you just need to know them well, the speakers and your room. the rest of it it's down to taste and a very subjective thing. who cares if I like the ribbon twitter on Adams or not?

what matters is for you to pick some speakers that sound good to you. all those brands have good enough frequency range and flat response. a lot of good artists working on either of them, so go to the nearest store with some music and listen. then it's up to getting used to it. reference levels helps in this process and... that's all.
