I just noted that the "napster-to-go" service is very limited.
For the $15/mnth you can keep listening to the tracks you have bought.
If you stop being a member the tracks will not be possible to play anymore.
And they cannot be burned on CD either.

Of course there is software that make you bypass the DRM system though if you like to.

To download tracks that you actually is allowed to keep it's $0.99.

So not something I would sign up for at least, even if I would like much pop music.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

I did come across something that might be an interesting solution, and more applicable to the trance scene.

http://www.kokopellinetworks.com/solutions/authorize/

It's basically a system that integrates into P2P clients that will deal with payments for downloads.
Labels and artists can register their material and set a price.
If the user downloads registered material the get the option to preview and pay for the track or it will be deleted.

Previewing 5 seconds of the start, 5 seconds of the middle and 5 of the end seems a bit limited though.

But IMO this is a very nice idea and for small trance labels it might be a good option since there is no server costs for distributing the material.

It's currently under beta testing, and the question is of course if people really will choose the client that has this system integrated.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

MP3 quality sucks and i would much rather have cd quality, but it is a pretty good way to get illegal downloaders back on track.

i think chem crew is doing something similar, go on their website and there is a link so you can get tons of unreleased.

the real question is how we can legally get unreleased material in cd-quality... a lot of us would pay for that with our favorite labels / artists...
