I *finally* got this in the mail today....I think I am about ready to kick the German postal system for making it so damn complicated.

Wonderful compilation all around here! I have been less and less into the hard side of psy over the last couple years, but occasionally a great album for compilation comes around that kicks my ass all over the place and has me jumping around the apartment.

Starting off....

The Logic Bomb track isn't my style, but I am probably not a fair judge since I have never really liked their slower tracks. #2 by Commercial Hippies gets it really started for me. Throbbing low end with subtle melodies that grow throughout the track. Nice one for either side of the peak hours. Any more upcoming tracks from these guys? #3, The Protoculture remix of "Ultima" is one of my two faves on this album. Nice groovy almost tekkish feel, but with a fantastic melody in the second half. Subtly explosive. I am glad Nano got around to putting it on CD. #4 by Cyan is nice, but doesn't go much of anywhere for me. #5 by Vatos Locos (remixed by Earthling) is a big surprise for me - I have never really liked either artist, but it seems to work this time around. Very restrained track that IMO would work extremely well in the first few hours of a party.

I think enough has probably already been said about #6 by Tristan vs. The Electric Ant....and I agree with all of it. Not only the best track on the CD, but easily the best I have heard with Tristan's hand in it. Period. More from this combo, please.

#7 & #8 by Hydrophonic and Protoculture begin to get a bit into the melodic full-on sound. Both are very good morning full-power dancefloor tracks, but not really breaking any new ground. Still fine additions to this compilation and will be sure to rock any dancefloor. I am anxious to hear what Protoculture will pull out for his full album effort next month. The closer by Triptych is good, but the melody feels a bit noodly towards the end and loses me. I prefer his harder material, and am also looking forward to his album next month.

Overall, a damn fine CD worth every penny. The extra features are a nice touch as well - something I would like to see more labels try out. While most of music I have heard previously from South Africa has not done so much for me, I think it is safe to say that I have finally been bitten by the bug thanks to this comp.

9/10

Once again a nice compilation from South Africas leading label.

I agree with a lot of the things said about the different tracks here here. Most of them are really really good, but especially one stand out: the Protoculture remix of Rinkadinks "Ultima". A really nice blend of the fairly dark style of Rinkadink, and the uplifting themes from Protoculture. Awesome track (although not as good as "New Directions").

Instead of pointing out the other good tracks, it's easier to name the weakest tracks on the compilation: Cyans "Electro Texture", Triptychs "Cold", and Protocultures "High Orbit". IMHO a disappointing and pretty standard track by Protoculture here.

My verdict: 8.5/10

Favs: 1, 2, 3 (!!!!), 5 (!!), 6, 7

Keep up the good work Nano           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Aie aie aie.. You South Africans are simply the best!
I got such a nice suprise opening my mail box today and finding both new Nano Rec releases.

Such groovy morning full on. Exquisite. The Logic Bomb is so beautiful! I liked the Rinkadink remix, but I think the original version sounds much better.
Tristan vs the Electric Ant is fucken excellent! And so is Hydrophonic, Protoculture and Triptych.
What a beautiful compilation. It's becoming my "gym" c.d (this is what I put on my discman when I go to the gym), and suddenly I feel so much energies while working out...hehe           Majority is never right!

Beautiful music after a loooooong time.
It's early morning and i'm at work right now, but i have the most ecstatic smile on my face coz i was rocking to this Cd in my car. Wish i could give a copy to everyone of those sour faces stuck in their cars all around me on the highway.
Melodic, Funky, Groovy, call it what you want, but if this CD does not get your butt moving, contact me for refunds.
Thank you Nano Records for the positive vibrations.

Things start with a strange tune from Logic Bomb ‘Joddel’, especially in his first part composed of mainly weird bass- rythmic tandem coppled with tyrolian chant « la-lalala hi hou-hi hou - la lalala hi hou-hihou », then evolves into more classic logic bomb tones & build up. A slight dissapointment for me.

After the swedish premises, some major interesment from one of these numerous south african artists provided by Nano, i mean here Commercial Hippies (Anton Raubenheimer aka Cyan + Gareth Tacon aka Dj Chesh, half part of Hydrophonic). Morning harmonically oriented, Where Dreams Come True is nevertheless dancefloor effective with a pretty hynotic cycling up melody.

Another one from S.A Rinkadink, is present with a remix of Ultima realized by Protoculture (Nate Raubenheimer, same name but not from the same familly as Cyan dude). The track is definitively melodic-cosmic & couldn’t have been done more floating than this during his climax.

Electro Texture from Cyan is indeed not so techno influenced but i would better say nicely old school flavoured in his background through uses of one Euro-Trance synth sound or 303 lines at 5:00 for example, it’s pleasant light.

With next one, we’re travelling to Ibiza as Vatos Locos has cooked some sunny-morning & tribal smooth production.

Six Straight Days contains some goa reminicsences, due probably to the participation of Tristan in this track, this musical wink mixed with more recent sounds trademarks offers a nice opportunity in the psytrance production, very interesting & a success.

A groovy bassline welcomes you in Ones & Zeros from Hydrophonic, morning full on ingredients are presents with percussions. Around 5:15, one of the special trademarks from Nano artists appears, some goa-like melody sound.

Protoculture reaches groovier levels with High Orbit. Nice result around 4:00 when the bass gets vibrating embellished with a gimmick sample ‘pump it' plus a robotic twisted voice annoucing the final peaktime orbit landing.

To finish after all these S.A artits, some not so ‘Cold’ sounds from France with Triptych, indeed only luminously aurora borealistic tones & psyche-groovy spirit.
Penguins, polar bears & inuits are already having a party and dancing on it, just rest you to join them coz they ‘re waiting for you !

Highlights by order :3,2,6,9

Title: Clarity
Artist: V/A
Label: Nano Records
Over the last 12 months of their existence Nano Records have built up a reputation for seeking out fresh psychedelic trance with attitude, and Clarity, their latest release, fully lives up to that reputation. Because of the range of textures and layers that have been used in the various tracks on Clarity, it is able to take you, in a single breath, from a flighty and carefree sunshine goa trance sound straight into the focused darkness of depth. Once again Nano have released an album that screams its way unremittingly into the very centre of our psychedelic souls. FB

Nano records is on a roll... quality track after quality track is on offer here. All tracks have a vibe of their own and it's just really cool to hear these finely crafted basslines AND hear some great melodies as well!! Faves here: 3,4,8. But as I said: all tracks totally rock!! Go buy this one now... you won't regret it!!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Oh, adding to my view on this album: Great idea from Nano to let people who legally bought or ordered this album get a passcode and download some stuff for free. Listening to my bonus track Cuckoo from Cyan now, and it's a good one!! Thanks Nano!!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment.
