Braininavat...I have some problems with some of the things in your post, well not so much problems as differences....

sure, if you go to a psy festival there will always be the experience of some random 20-something (or in my experience, 30-something, 40-something) hopped up on E and LSD running around trying to spark the next intellectual revolution by telling you their philosophy on how god is inside everyone and on and on....sometimes its serious, sometimes its just the compulsion of the drug mix. The "reality" is that we don't really understand an immense portion of whats going on, but to not ponder or attempt to at least gain an appreciation for our own realities then...what's the point? To just hedonistically get as high as you can before you die? Have as much "fun" as possible? I'd rather dedicate myself to spiritual/emotional/intellectual stimulation and exploration even knowing that I more than likely will never find an 'answer' as opposed to the various other currently available ways of pissing away my life (thanks materialist commercialized culture!)

Interesting thoughts, and I want to clarify that in my opionion 'putting an existentialist spin on it' and having fun are not mutually exclusive by any means. I think it is rather a question of attitude. As long as you deal with the deeper questions with a mindset that recognizes how little we understand without disqualifying all the things we _do_ understand (this one is common, most people are just not updated to today's science and technology) then by all means let the discussions flow.

What gets me are the self-appointed, 'jaded', been-there-done-that people who claim that they understand how everything works, and that it is in fact all just crap and why can't everyone else see what they see...?

Bukboy- the dilution has always been there imo. in the old days it was punk bands with crappy 4-track recordings. now its XP on a makeshift windows box with a host of cracked plugins- same difference. i've always had to dig deep to get to the good music, and thats the fun of it

i think what separates the men from the boys is 1) tenacity, keeping at it, and spending all of your time and money on it over several years, most importantly evolving with it and not giving up 2) doing it for the love of immersing yourself in the music, not with the intent of 'doing something to someone' although visualizing smiling or freaked out faces and hoping it has the desired effect also comes into play

so yeah, now everyone and his brother has a myspace page, and a number of white label releases. big deal. doesnt mean i spend my time getting acosted into listening to their pages all day. and the parties usually dont book these artists anyway, unless its a small stage. maybe its different in SA, but here in Japan, its either DJs, or a handful of live acts that are actually pretty good, or its international artists. so it doesn't bother me that much. it still takes like i said above to make good music, and still takes a couple G$ to get started, so its not like everyone can just make music out of the box

and without the said democratization of music making technology, you would not have Suomi, which I hear most of those guys use Fruity and pretty minimal equipment, if only PC. one example where monetary investment or hierarchy does not equal quality of output. then they make their own genre and labels and wholla, something where there was nothing before. to me thats win-win           Gamma Riders EP out now on iTunes and Amazon.com!

Aeon - I think you got a pretty good idea on Halloween trance. I wonder how many people would petition to ban this from parties, or at least force organisers to disclose this up front?

Daleks - Adversity and variety are great. But the distribution is heavily skewed towards the lower quality segment. Isn't someone already payed to reject the low quality instantly forgettable stuff? I would pay for someone to sort the bottom 70% crap into a bin and save me time. Basically a spam filter.

I dont have time to listen to the crap 90% or the patience, and neither do most of the people with a life. WTF is my time? noob free advertising time?

I want a better conentration of music on cd's and events or I will conclude that theres a 90% chance I will listen and pay for crap, and instead go somewhere else.

well I can agree on the point that 90 % is mostly crap on an standard event. At least here, that's why Im not anymore interesting in visiting events where it is obvious that is not getting a real good vibe.
When I would see sth worth visiting I would go for it.
Coming from the oldskool I got more that goa india humble plur spirit in my heart and mind than the 160 + bpm drumroll noisecore youth psy sth wanna be hard and untouchable spirit of today which is quite common and which almost everybody here aims .
It is mostly the case ,Id wish they atleast stop playing that much of that right unreleased crap and play more the records from good recognized labels.Or some musics that are special and not only unknown.
When looking on that forum conversations it is a good mirror of what have changed comparing to the old music and vibe which I found before most of those so special smart and allknowing artists weren't even there.
Where has the friendly vibe gone?
And the electro wave is even more annoying but better than speed and no matter what around it.The vibe is for sure a more friendly one.
When I'm on a party with friends the music became totaly secondary (mostly).
But I believe that there is a development in the whole music genre ,it is only pity that mostly the good ones are not there on the line ups.Often I wonder of musicians that I never'Ve seen on a party line up that are making great music (lots of good dark too).
I like the good hidden psy parties which are still in summer here but apart of it,the good times in clubs are totaly over for me,and I believe it is not easy to find good parties with good spirit on the whole planet meanwhile as I heard from friends.
The psy festivals are still the best comparing to other festivals but it is not sth myrical unforgettable anymore as it once each time was.
Some festivals are intersting though.

Soulfood - I went to a party and did my research. I checked on youtube the tracks that were played by the artists that were playing. I was so excited when I heard what some of the artists could do. It was gonna be great. Looking forward so much.

Everythings cool right? WRONG.

They never played any of their good tracks. I was so f'ing dissapointed. Outraged. They dumbed the whole thing down. They sounded exactly like everyone else with dwaf dwaf dwaf. Its like the organiser said "play something for everyone" which ended up being play the mediocre general shit.

That's too bad.

I suppose I can't really comment on that because I don't get out all that much. I haven't had a good trancing session since boom 2008... I need to sort it out really. I was a bit gutted then actually because I was really looking forward to seeing Procs... but there is such thing as too much volume. 2 minutes of distortion into that set and I went somewhere else.

We enjoyed much Carbon based lifeforms on Friday and Sync24, was a really beautiful night
A very pleasant chill out evening

ANd on Saturday, there was Deviant Species, Lucas, Raja Ram playing , we went for the first two of course but finally only Santos played good music because he played his own music and i was expecting LUcas to smash everything.
This summer i heard him playing one of the best dj sets in my life, instead he played sticky club music for walls which could barely move my feet, was 1000 times better with Deviant and the serious strict tech psy than Lucas who disappoint me, cause he has fantastic music instead of giving this, he gave the kinky clubbish rubbish ....
But no the rest of the club which had started to dance and when RajaRam came up everybody went like crazy and he didnt do anything and he played 7 year old fucking GMS tracks remixed again from GMS and everybody were happy to see the besotted granpa waving his hands and though how cool he is.. FUCKING RIDICULOUS people only love show off and bull shit LOOk AT ME im the bEST and shit ,im so cool and i know psychedelic more tha grandpa of psy knowledge, dont you know that ?

instead Santos from Deviant was teaching them what groove and vibe is, with the head down he was delivering paths,, people were waiting for the jerk grandpa to play and other even next to me were discussing how bad this guy is and when raja ram played the three note pentatonic GMS bullshit and israeli fool on these guys were happy, and im talking about people over 27 years old not children
of course we left by the time raja ram pushed play ...

so my conclusion is once again that also 90% of the audience are so fucking illiterate that discuss me to death and would like not to be next to such people when im listening to artists i respect and especially if i take some lsd and such which again i rarely use, im not that stupid as those two fuckers next to me that evening ...

yes what fucking sells is above fucking all
fuck off

im bored and sick and tired of many things but still find beautiful times and music to rest my soul
fuck off to all the fake "good energy" spirits, i dont need laughs from Es and shit.. really, life is not happy and every music gathering is not for laughs and tickling

just a couple of recent thoughts to see how others think and perceive things around, youre not the only neurotic around dont worry

Seems more people than me have bad parties.

gutter - most of the stuff I listen to is from 5 to 15 years old

There are rare few new tracks which manage to outdo on the past ones without plagiarism.

Hey gutter you can do better! hehe

Also i think it very much depends on what you want... you want fullon power or funky humorous, acid leads and deep atmospherers or stabby short leads and highpitched buildups... psychedelica or just party party...

gutter your tracks sounds even better than master blaster! For real! breathing much more life.... peace
