i was wondering....
a brand new CD ,of a well known artist will cost me about 60-80 shek's. (israeli currency}
a blank recordable CD will cost me 2 shek's and i can burn it in 5 min'.
i dont think artists should get screwed because of that , but they do !
i cant blaim myself and others like me, for doing their right ecconomical conculations and decide to burn CD.'s instead of purchasing them.
i think the blaim is on all those distributors and music shops that claim huge profit on behalf of the artists.
what do u think...? |

You are almost right maskalito , but you should know that artists , specialy in trance scene , that know how to make a good psy music that are so talented and plurish then ever selling their studio and coming back to live in their parents house to save some money for living !!!
They stop to make music couse they need to work extra hours for their existance !!!
Why shouldn't an artists make some money , not for living , for the their studio ? Why Shouldn't an artist buy a new s.card to hear better and produce more quality sound for us guys that buying the CD and take it home for listening ?

Maskalito didn't say the artists dont deserve the money, he said that the distributors and records shops make too much profit out of it.. I guess he believes the artists do deserve the money, like we all believe (I hope) but after all the prices are so high cuz of the pirates... its like a circle... there's no solution.
I believe that if you respect an artist you should buy his albums/singles.
Leo, you cant say especially in the trance scene cuz thats not right, rock artists dont have the same expenses? they have about the same expenses as trance artists.. |

i know from experience both scenes and trance is the expensive and poor of them.
Listen , if ppl would buy more CD's the prices will get down.
Who stuck in the middle ? yep the artists ! why should it be like that ??? |

Rock sells, even though people burn and steal. Trance is not mainstream, it doesn't sell as much. And the artists still need money. A good synth and sound card cost even more than an electric guitar!
How many Israeli trance artists reach gold? Only Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection (correct me if I'm mistaken). That's only 2 Trance artists. How many rock, pop, hip hop, etc. reached gold? Much more. |

Mike, thats true but I wasn't talking about mainstream and stuff. I was talking about the expenses of producing the music.. and when you say that a synth and a good sound card cost more than an electronic guitar its maybe true but not relevant cuz rock artists also need synths and good sound cards but this is getting way too offtopic.. |

No it's not. Guitarists and singers don't need sound card. They have it in the recording studio of the label - which means 1 or 2 for ALL of the artists. In trance every artist has his own sound card and gear at home. |

my opinion is that it's ok to download a cd to chek it out, casue it's like going to krembo only easier.. but after you liked something you should buy it and give the artist you like it's respect and rights.

second - look, u cant burn with quality of original cd and man, what u will show to your GF/child/mother ?? buy cd's, have nice collection and feel respect mainly to yourself...
i cant say i dont burn at all , but man, i have BIG collection... |
