I'm not sure that it actually creates apathy but... hmmm... but it does erm... oh, sod this, i'm hungry!

Seriously though, i think it can only be expected that the increased and pretty much instant availability of anything will weaken its value and how much people appreciate it. When i was growing up in the 70’s and even in the 80’s there wasn’t a lot of good electronic music around. These days, mainly due to software and the net, the amount of it available is totally overwhelming. It is easy to become far more blasé and apathetic about music when it is so easily obtained and there is so much of it about.

Still, more music means more choice… and more choice means there is more of a chance that you will find music that is perfect for you. That can’t be a bad thing can it?

Btw, talking of apathy… does being permanently drunk count as apathy… or is that sloth? Just updating my CV – i like accuracy.

Am i the only one who believes in solipsism?

i think thats rubbish, it comes down to whether you like the song or songs , or not...its as simple as that...if the music appeals to you , you will appreciate it, its not that complicated...

i rate those scholars are looking for needles in a haystack...

and and as far as getting deafened by an iPOd...no shit...if you put it on load, it doesnt matter what headphones you use, or the source , you can damage your ears...you dont need to be a rocker to work that one out

It has nothing to do with anything other than mainstream music, and nothing to do with our "scene."

I can understand how this is true in some cases that tend to be toward more popular styles of music, but I do feel that listeners of psytrance and (psy)progressive trance are a lot more understanding and "connected" to their music than other mainstream music listeners.

I might even suggest that the listener of completely mainstream music only considers the music that he/she listens to as another part of their personality, where they "wear" the fact that they listen to blank artist for their own ego. Maybe I'm going a bit hardcore with that one, but I could see how that situation would occur.

I agree with l337 in the sense that it depends on the person and the music, and all other factors involved, of couse. I can guarantee that there are listeners of psytrance that consider it strictly music to trip to and don't care about it other than that sense.

I guess I m agree with some of you...
True that can create apathy. But its the cause not the reason. The reason is what Outolintu very accurate pointed,
Quote:
"..people are shutting off their sences every where all the time because of the unhealthy environment we as a species have created."

Some years ago you and friends were gathering at home and listened to music (and talking about it or other things). Nowdays, you can again gather with friends @home and listen to music, while playing pro evolution on PS2, surfing, downloading southpark etc etc.. )
Therefore, listener's apathy is created only from the listener.
I, as a producer and listener, am enjoying it.
Also, what Spindrift said sounds true to me..
Quote:
"..It easily feels like it's all done before and is hard to come across a groundbreaking style or fusion these days."

I hope that we ll move on the hi part of the wave again spindrift. Maybe the new techs (which alot blamed about) help us generate, help us create new and fresh sounds and 'musics'

Cheers to muzik!
