there is a very interesting book on the subject published recently entitled Men of Substance.

its a history of important people who influenced society (politicians, artists, etc) and their use of substances to alter consciousness.
looks like an interesting read, maybe ill review it here as soon as amazon delivers it.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

some drugs make the ear's more sensitive to sounds.. such as some make the eye more sensitive to light.. if you can capture the beauty of this sensitivity and some how publish it, through music or art, then it is a definat advantage....

one can still work without the other (drugless music), but it can only help to give people a different view on things...           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

Another interesting book touching the heart of the subject: "LSD, Spirituality, and the Creative Process" based on the research of Oscar Janiger.

nice words clown.....have to agree......drugs are definitely not a prerequisite but they certainly have a way of enhancing certain senses if u r tuned into them.....so coincidentally most artist and musicians who have done work which is well ahead of their time have at some point or the other battled with substances......some won the war and some lost the battle.....but great music or art is not dependent on what's in medicine chest!!
