Perhaps a tad bit of saturation, some EQ and some compression, but that's all you need to make these kicks. No weird science, no hidden tricks or magic.

A kick is just a kick. Don't over complicate it

What would Hans Zimmer say about this?:)

What kick is for a dance floor is not what kick is for music in general. Does anyone have exprience with this kind of drum kicks, more film music like, more epic?

The most used: what about battery?

of course a Trance kick is different to a house, rock, pop, edm, techno kick, etc.

a trance kick must be boomy, clicky, heavy a trance kick +bass is the base, it can get you to that state of mind called "Trance" ,the other elements like melodies, arpegios, chords, squelchs, are the elements of psychodelia,in these days many of the new producers don't know how to make "Trance" they prefer focus in make build ups, drops than "Trance" because the audience are looking for this kind of music full of drops and breaks, also can i hear great melodic, twisted, psychedelic compositions but they lack of "Trance" Kick & bass.

there's plenty sample packs out there filled with ready for cinema sounds, including drums and all sorts of hits. there's tons of it in the Komplete package, some amazing ones from heaviocity.

but if you were to synthesize it, you'd be looking at physical modelling rather then standard subtractive synthesis for it.

a trance kick needs to cut the mix and provide some meat that dances well with the bass. that's all there is to it. it usually has a very clean, round sound. don't see anyone making heavily distorted kicks like in other genres, but there's still a lot of scope for different sounding kicks.

although, more and more, I think we produce the simplest kind of kick and bass there is, of most genres. doesn't mean it's any less demanding though.

good kicks are all about good balance. high shelfs help a lot controlling the excessive high frequencies.

Hahahaha this is hilarious

When i go off to make a track i use the same preset, sure.
But the perk is: You can ajust the KB and environment all together, instead of having to fine tune everything to the kick.

for 145bpm music.... i'd rather have some more oomph to the sound, and a heavier click than that :l            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

the trend to more simple design of kick and bass could not be overseen in the last few years. i am not very familiar with ultra modern trance styles any more but at the time my favourite trance was produced, kick and bass was really a sophisticated endevour. it is a task that demands very precise mathematical work flow on physical parameters and is therefore extraordinary difficult to achieve if you want it ot be unique.

yes, i actually find listed parameters in tables and databases very interesting to explore. drum and bass is something that people don't really find pretentious. it has to do with the dancefloor oriented attitude that everything working for dance , would work for a demanding audio experience as a listener in frames of reference different than a dancefloor...
