Since Shpongle is the king of shpongled ambient disturbance I'm always looking for stuff like it..
Here's my Shpongle alike top:

1. Entheogenic - Very Shpooongled
2. Celtic Cross - Simon + Youth.. what can you expect
3. Deviant Electronics - OMG I'm a ambient veteran and I just heard my first deviant stuff like aa week ago..
4. Shulman - Time to time sort of Shponglish
5. Toires - Hmm..
6. Violet Vision - Dunno.. it's just the spirit..

So what needs to be added to this list??
Am I missing something important??
Are you Shpongled ?!?

You are forgetting... The Infinity Project - Mystical Experiences. Very chilled album, with a weird but cool atmosphere.           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

Traveller, you can add to your list this one:

Taruna - World Fusion (Shiva Space Technology released debut 2002)

Taruna isn't very well known but effective if you like chill-out Sphongle alike style. This album should have merited more attention from people.

Off course Entheogenic, is as close as it gets in the quality, and then again its different in the feeling

i think most shpongled is ozric tentacles music... which is not surprise because simon was inspired by them working on are you shpongled? ... try pyramidion track from pyramidion ep , and you understand what i'm talking about ... but those guitar are ugly :-\

similar to shpongle maybe too:

subsurfing - frozen ants ... listen to 1 & 3 track
this is greg hunter project , who works on dub trees album as well as the orb

and

irresistible force - flying high ... first track is a good example , listen to those melodies at the beginning ... and in the last track you can hear some guy talking about dmt ... but it was released in 93 ... when no one even think about shpongle.

some tracks by makyo & padmasana remind shpongle as well

but i think celtic cross ( even if we know that simon works on it ) toires and taruna is different then shpongle ... in the same way you can put on this list kumba mela experiment , waterjuice , digital mystery tour , mystery of the yeti ...or something ...this is not very shpongle-like music ...i ask where is connection? ... in my list those connection you can hear in melodies

that's all , but im sure i heard more shpongle-like music which i can't remember at the moment

mai mai

PhuturePrimitve - SubConscious is a MONSTER HIT.
it's on Waveform records, and finally at Psyshop.

If only Tales of the Inexpressable was quite as good as this CD!
---------
I heard that the first Taruna was good, but I have Taruna II is and it's nothing special.

OZRIC TENTACLES for sure!!!!

And what do you mean the guitars are ugly?? Hehehe. Ozrics make some of the most trippiest shit out there.

you know, taking a brief look in most of the threads in this section I see that the people here concentrate on quite narrow line of artists. These names (Shpongle, Shulman, Entheogenic etc') are almost the only ones to appear (specially in your threads, Traveller), and it really looks like a very narrow angle, when this section should have been the widest (comparing to trance, which is REALLY limited).

Seeing the same bands over and over again, as if they are the only ones making 'chillout' music (although I wouldn't call Shpongle chillout - too psy and beside the ingeniousity, quite irritating).
More so, I'm sure you have most of the relating music already, so why posting this? another useless 'who's listening to the highest quality music' competition?

And personally for you, Traveller - everybody knows you like Shpongle and the rest of the artists you keep mentioning. I also know that your musical taste is exuisite (yes, it is a compliment...) - why not widen the view of this section and bring forth new names (not necesarily new, only 'previously not mentioned' names)? I mean, Shpongle have their nieche, and they are (you said it, not me) 'The Kings' - so why go looking for something similar? some immitation of the same style?

bored,
A
