Digweed, Van Dyk, Oaklenfold, Seaman, and Sasha? I would stop with them Monkey Ruler, in fact i wouldn't even get started!! I'm from the UK (where the aforementioned also hail from) and they are shite. Commercial rubbish, push the ceiling kind of thang. Don't dig it dude.

imo anykind of music can be intresting (not just electronik) as long as it done right & good.

minimal trance can be realy borring in some cases & can be a real blast in other cases the same with melodic trance , full-on , classical music & zohar argov.... :) etc. etc.

if it's done right than it will be good.

Yeah, but if you've got more elements which are right, then you can get a better track.

IMO, people do minimalistic music, because there are less parts which are hard to make and less parts to screw up. Lets admit it - if you only have a bassdrum, bassline, percussion and SFX, it's really hard to screw up (if you do those things right). Once you start adding more layers to that... it gets tricky.

BUT....

one killer drive (Growling Mad Synchro - Bandicoot on the Run, for instance), can add so much power to the track....

I miss that.

Hallo there,

I think there is nothing bad in Van Dyke and Seaman - on the contrary - there are a lot of nuances that can b taken easily into trance and can help a lot + GRRReat production every single time - I would like see that in Trance tracks... Another example for this kind is Underworld which are pure excellence just listen and enjoy ( and OPEN YOUR MIND ) ;-)

Secondly - I totally agree with Assaf about Halucinogen's Live - With the advent of minimal trance many forgot that FIRST of all trance is genre of MUSIC and there is too much minimal that hasn't got even one HARMONY in it I ain't talking melodies here. There is very good minimal trance as well but very rare and hard to find ( IMO ) ;-)

Personally I think and believe that modern Trance music should be a hybrid between Full On from the past and minimalism of today and then it will b in it's best.

well, i only listen to them when im in the mood, im not a true fan, never will be. but im always up for something new. im not all bout one style of music, im into every thing. too me..i basicly feel, why should we care if its commercial or not, yea non commercial is harder to find and i personally take pride in all my underground cds i have. with my commercial cds, eh, just when i dont feel like listening to my friends go "oh where did you get this, who's this, (blah blah)", or when i just dont know what to listen to i'll put some commercial shit on, sometimes im even in the mood, to me it makes good lunch-time music(dont know why, couldnt explain). usaully i listen too Sandman, Green House Effect, Infected Mushroom, BLT, Space Cat, and so forth in the morning, and in the afternoon, usaully listening too Brain Bubbles, X-Dream Cop, Infected Mushroom, and others. during night time im listening to Skazi, S-Range, SFX, Pigs In Space, MFG and others, while going to sleep and sleeping, i listen to Jean Michel Jarre, Soulo, FSOL, Life Is, and other very very melodic/minimal.

so im all for different styles of trance, and of all genres of music.

Jason, I'm, from Newcastle in the North-East of England. No, I haven't heard that radio station is it any good? send me details please if it is. I like the London scene, mainly in The Fridge (Pendragon and the likes) and also The Embankment club that used to be in Vauxhall (don't know if it still is). Up here it's mainly underground for the trance scene with no weekly or even monthly trance nights of any quality. Mainly really boring minimal trance. We used to run a night up here called Alpharhthym which specialised in full on psy-trance (why not have it full on when you can only stay open until 3am?), with mainly live acts. We were very small, but perfectly formed and had a great following. However it turned out to be far too much work what with uni and all so now I just DJ from party to forest as much as I can, with the hope to start up nights again maybe next year.

Son Kite are great (even though people sometimes argue with me about how minimal they really are), Paps, Ticon... check out those names, they're the classic introduction to 3 sides of minimal.

Atleast there are still new produced psy albums. Like latest Etnica and IM. Can't fins Son kite or Ticon at Morpheus. Strange cause you can get alot of psy and goa there. Are SK and Ticon well known bands?

What do ya'll think of MFG's "The message" album? Allot of those tracks start quite minimal, but progress into full on... some of you (Yuli) spoke of balancing minimal with full on. Wouldn't this be a great example?

If your a dj you can pick where to mix in our out the track so one dj could play the track minimal and another full on... like track 2 if i had a full on set going i would mix in around 4 minutes, minimal more passive set.. mix out before 4 minutes...

I would add my feelings to this thread too now :)

minimal needs to evolve to the uplifting feeling that will make us all dance like crazy ppl - what was once long time ago...

I hate walking around the dancefloor instead of losing myself on it - I hate to say that Club trance like Yahel makes it uplifting - but yet bad :) I want trance, fantastic sounding track to give that feeling. My hope never dies though...
I'm gonna try make that music... heh
