for sure it is 'intelligent and complex' otherwise no ones was talking about it. maybe next party I'll bring my calculator istead of a good pair of shoes for dancing...

anyway wierdo grooves doesn't mean intelligent, if else most intelligent music will be some experimental techno from scandinavia records which is not danceble and experimental not intelligent.

there is a huge difference between "weirdo grooves" as u say, and complex rythmic structure ... nevermind... awesome album!

Well, in this forum there are a lot of topics and discussions regarding the "psychedelic" music of our scene .....just listen "Trebel Rebel" of this amazing "progressive" (in terms of innovation) album and then you will realise that TODAY we still have some very psychedelic tracks.....

best regards

its very interesting that the so called "non-trancers" aka midimiliz release a new album which has more production quality and more trance-influences as so many other releases of today imo. nonstandarts is not a name, its a concept to show that the idea of psychedelic experience is able to be communicated from artists to the floor in different forms.
i will try to explain how i understand the message of non-standarts, seriously.

kick and bass:
they soften and deepend the basslines and punches into a different envelope, dynamic and frequences. if you listen to fullon or proggy the dynamics are all the same compared to that. midimiliz break out of this structure. at home you think: where is the bass? on floor you think: wooooooow. and indicator that arne and wayan know exactly what they do. this is pa music. music for big soundsystems. describing in words the basslines feel warm, liquid and organic, not dry and hard. dont tell me, that this is not trance, offcourse it is!

arrangement:
they alway have elements which are moving and morphing. not one bar sounds like the other one. its not that this effects have more organic feeling only. also they break out from the usual trancearrangement and and create unknown storys. why? because today every released track is like a 2/4/8/16/32/64-bar pattern. you are able to count on 99% of the trancereleases and tell like a prophet, when a break comes and when a new theme gets in. try this in non-standarts. ooops. not working. sometimes the change the theme after 3 bars or they transform a loop into a stream. or morph a stream into a loop. nonstandarts, besides of actual releases where just loops and streams stay in the (4/x^2)-pattern as solid elements, no. arne and wayan show us that our structures are dusty and closed. and that realy more is possible.

hihats + percussion:
a lot of shuffle and different frequences (nonstandarts), they show what happens if you flatten the volume of the hihats and sharpen the volume of the drums. just an exchange with such an effect. or what happens if you put together some transients in differnet formations.
this album is a treasure with many tips and warnings to everyone who likes to produce.

fx:
destroyed electronic shit combined with trancy fx and techy percussion. defenitly an indicator that arne and wayan are state of the art and they are clever, because electro is very very on vogue and it seems like they like to go on different partys besides of trance and are ready to show us the new influences of the global dj-club-culture.

besides of the album:
for a few weeks i saw them live. absolutly amazing liquid flow. a pitty that the international djs, which played after and before them sounded dry and static.
they made me remembering the "good times", the set was very touching my trance-infected soul. thank you!

not every bottle which is signed as trance contains trance. and sometimes you get a tea called "nonstandarts" which containes more trance than every other chai, even with a combination of new and old spices.

i am also very thankfull that this crew brings fresh influences in our scene. who besides of them is doing this? last but not least i understand this album also as a warning: it has become standart not to bring new ideas into our music.

they made me remembering the "good times", the set was very touching my trance-infected soul. thank you!"
