Unfortunatly I've only come across laptop DJ that have huge piles of MP3's that when played on decent sized sound systems sound like crap - on the other side of the coin people who play their own stuff off their computer sound awesome. It's definatly a way to weed out a lot of low quality sets as well as giving folks a heads up on dynamic range preservation when working towards playing out - gwyn |

you can buy wavs and flacs anywhere these days, it's getting easier than buying CDs. i doubt any more people who use laptops play mp3s than CD jocks. if you hear some jarring low sound quality it's most likely not the music, but a crappy soundcard.
