Sound is math, the human ear hears in a logarithmic way. Some sounds which come in equal differences between them (or something like that) sound harmonic to the ear. They sound good.

Trance is sound. Synths use only math. Sin, Cos, and all of those functions.

Sound = Math
Sound = Trance
->
Math = Trance

OK, well, there are only two types of child prodigies - in math and in music. In other subjects - talent is something that has to be developed over time much more. This phenomenom is well known and documented throughout history, but many researchers say that it's actually the same talent.

Bach has a very mathematical quality to his music - the purity of structure, the abstract development is very in place. In order to get into a trance (which is what this music is about, hence the name), you have to be able to flow with the music. Abstract mathematics and physics require a very in depth understanding (the beauty of the theory of relativity, for instance, is in both it's simplicity and depth). Shiva Chandra is the best example for this IMO, since it's much easier to see the connection with psychedelic progressive art where structure and depth are the main parts of the music.

The fascination I have with finding the logic behind nature, the "rules" of the universe, so to speak, is the same fascination which I have from psychedelic music, but that's just me... or is it?

I definitly go along with it Asaf.
Much of the what i feel that connects me with psychedelics is in your message...it's some of the same things that connect me to math.

hmm well .. I think a major part of growing up for everyone is understanding this difference between art n science .. and understanding then tht there actually is no difference ...

If u think abt it .. science is a branch of philosophy .. math is a science yes, but im pretty sure u`r not gonna be very good at it .. unless u see the art tht underlies it .. wat am i talking abt?
Math has form, it has logical progression ... u cannot understand tht unless u do by intuition .. if it were just a set of rules tht u have to follow just because the rules say so .. u`d fail a math test :) ..
if u saw the art tht underlies it .. u`d love it .. and u`d score a 100 on the test.

Just like music .. its great, and its artistic and beautiful, but its also scientific .. the art of producing the music requires science (read skill, knowledge and intuition of wat sounds good where) etc.

Read this book .. Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance .. its quite an eye opener ..
pay particular attention to the quality questions posed in the book .. and try answering them for urself.
