to traveller: portishead is nice and some
ninja tune releases too (like flanger's stuff,
the 1st and 2nd amon tobin, clifford gilberto,
cinematic orchestra),fila brazillia, 1st release of morcheeba, the third eye foundation, nightmares on wax etc...

to kakoolalajwal: the deviant electronics tracks on freekstyle are pretty good, i agree
but the overall compilation isn't in my opinion that great if i remember correctly : ) have to give it another spin!           ...Follow the Cable (and you'll get there)...

I'm feeling ancient if late 90s stuff is considered old stuff!!

If you want one of the most chilled albums ever - look out for Rainbow Dome Music by Steve Hillage (later System 7) - the Orb used to use it when they first started out doing chill out rooms in the late 80s - its 2 x 20 minutes tracks of twinkly plinky chill.

You can get it pretty much anywhere (even on Amazon) quite cheaply as it was realsed on Virgin mid price.

Ha! Thanx for that- I thought I was the only one
Very chilled- be aware. And made in 1979!!!
It wasn't easy at all for me to find it few years ago, finally found it online in some online bargain shop in the midwest US           ---------------------------------------------

About old ambient stuffs, i'm just recalling how was great 'The dance ambient collection 1 & 2' (on a german label in 90-92)

with climatic & indo-experimental ambient tracks from
Biochip C - The Transition (very climatic, ideal for the spring) , House Of Detroit - Move rmx, The Gloden Age Of adventure - Implantation, Fatal System Error - Keep the secret , Thranx! -Interference (the 2 last aremore industrial).

On second edition these ones are the best, LFO - Change, Bleep & Booster - Genki, Electrot'ete (aka Ben Watkins & Stef Holweck)- I Love You (very good), Colourbox- Phillip Glass.

Check also the Solar Quest album 'Orgship on Crammed/SSR (around 1995) with Requiem For A Lily.

Nowadays I'm hardly looking for Mammoth and Planet Dog Records releases (mid-90's) such as the VA - Feed Your Head serie...

And maybe the only online shop I've found stocking them is :
http://www.loudmusic.dk/records_labels.asp?label_id=403&function=view

LoudMusic.dk... Notice that the catalogue is IMPRESSIVE.
So... Does anybody knows about this shop ? Is it safe ?

I'm reaaally intending to buy them if I can.. of course other shop suggestions are welcomed !

About the price 150 DKK is about 20 €..

Thanx.

>edit< Gggggg they even have WaterJuice's album available !!! (Hehe now I have my original copy... but U, U reader ! Do U know the Sound of the Hydrophonics ?? No ? then run to it ! lol)          .

yeah man thats dope, i even have a clear vinyl version, it goes with almost anything, and looks trippy even without the volume up.

global communication must be mentioned for old school ambients.

I'm hardly looking for ElectroSlide's "Everything Is Connected To Nothing But Itself" (electroslide records..).. okay it's 2001, but so difficult to find out..           .

my reccomendation for one "must have" old cd is Tribal Drift - Collective journeys (chill out recs) perfect early 80's English hippy squat culture digeridoo ambient trance. It's the sound of the rainbow church that used to be in Kentish town it's the sound of the green fields of Glastonbury festival this album and a few magic mushrooms just could be the best night in you've had for a long time.

Third eye foundation - Ghost is an amazing album - very dark and melodic, with tight jungle beats. check out also Flying Saucer Attack, Scanner, Global Communication aka Jedi Knights, Craig Armstrong, Q-Burns Abstract Message, and Red Snapper, among others.
