well , in Israel there isn't such a problem in general ... different parties organaized by different ppl had very mixed artists so i didn't find the tendency u'r talking about ... but i'm telling u this not being familiar nor with artists neither with party organaizers closely and i'm sure there are many things ppl don't know but as it remains between them and not goes further - who cares ... as an outside viewer - seems 2 b PLUR in underground scene and this way it should be ...
about your sao paulo situation - well i hope it will change otherwise it will kill your scene . splitting rather than uniting - a secure way to failure           Dance is my Trance

We have a similar ugly situation here in Japan. I'm not an organizer - Hikari surely knows better than I - but I do know that the same DJ's/artists usually play for the same organizer each time.

And if you follow the Trance in Japan sub-forum, you'll have noticed that competition is tight. On June 8th, 3 artists who are members of this forum (Psysex, Son Kite, and Hujaboy) were playing at 3 different parties in Tokyo! Someone suggested "Why not one big party!" The answer must be business and politics.

But yes, most of the modern world operates primarily by capitalism. At least in this system, we often have the chance to make money and to spend it how we choose - on trance parties, for example. And despite negative aspects of the industry, most of the parties I've been to still have very positive vibes.

Trance in Japan is BIG business. Mr. Hanky said there were 1400 people at the Arcadia party (Dark Soho and Psysex). I think tickets were about 5000 yen each, or a little less than US$50, I believe. So, after renting the hall, supplying sound, and flying in and paying the artists, there must still be plenty of money in the pocket.

Unfortunately, this is a very political business. I'm interested in Trance, not politics or business.

Back to the old John Lennon classic - can you Imagine an independent trance state that functions effectively on the principles of Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect? I hate to admit that I'm getting old and my idealism is fading. Is such a society possible and sustainable? I really wish it were!

PLUR!

Yep
I have to agree
In Israel we didn't encounter such a problem as u guys decribe it.
Many times, organisers even join forces and make parties together.
Many organisers also care to make parties not on the same week-end as their co-mates organisers.

But not everything is ideal here. I have heard lots of stories about one well known israeli label that also make parties, and these stories are bad!           Majority is never right!

The hardest of the hard-core trancers believed the only honest way to live was to reject the notion of SUCCESS altogether: drop out of the rat race, retreat to small comunities where real human relationships would flurish. But that sort of utopianism was never going to be very popular. Members of the trance comunity in the west prize human relationships, but as for so many generations and comunities before them, ACHIEVEMENT is really at the core of their value system. They are meritocrats, after all, and so tend to define themselves by their ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

So i can extract from all of this that business interests really fuck with trance ...for sure i agree that producers and DJs must make some money to keep on doing a good job and, first of all, survive. But there's a big difference from this to a situation where it become a fight that mess up human relationships, don't you agree?
Anyway, its up to us trancers keep on spreading positive vibes !!
Peace&Love friends!

As an organizer here in Brazil, I don´t see at all this so called "war". What I see is too many people making bad parties, with no structure, no deco, no nothing! Just a nice line up and nothing else. And that realy makes people who make a big effort to do a great party very pissed off with the disrespect to those who enjoy trance and it´s surroundings. And another thing....psytrance is so so very far away form being mainstream here as Israel is from winning the World Cup! Of course there is a lot of new people going to parties, but still among the e-music here psytrance is by far the most underground and non-professional of all!

Well as Kaatisu said Japan is heavily political. It is all about politics, for some reasons Organizers here think that once you call an artist, that artist belongs to them. So if some other organization calls that same artist, we have a problem. That sucks but it is a true thing.
For Japan right now, trance=Money!!! so as it is competition for the crowd=money!! They dont care about what kind of crowd comes or does. As long as they get there money!!
I wish trance would become one communtiy like it was before!
