Ok Detox, u are right about plane tickets, but do u think the 300-500 euro for a plane ticket is the main expense for this gig? i mean u had AFX, DALEK, KID606, FOUR TET, TREVOR JACKSON booked, do u think that these artists are not expecting their money ?? i bet they were already paid, artists of this status don't wait to get to the gig to get their money.. have u ever heard of anything like that happening before ?? canceling an event because there were not enough presales ?? more likely because the headliner wouldn't play, and the organisers didn't want to admit it... i don't know man maybe i'm over suspicious but check this that i wrote about, it is from warp recs site :
"Aphex Twin and Chris Cunningham will perform together at the Traffic Festival on 30th June in Turin, Italy.
Chris Cunningham will play a special Audio Visual set using his own music and film work, including bits of 'Rubber Johhny', 'Flex' and other pieces chopped up in the mix. Aphex Twin will play a laptop set alongside, his first Euro show of 2005. This is the first time these two video and sonic collaborators have come together for a festival performance!
this is written since 10/6/05, so i don't think they wrote it because they knew afx in athens would be canceled, they wrote it because afx was never meant to come... |

Dear Nikos 500 euro for an air ticket is not much but 3500 euro for 6-7 or whatever number of air tickets is a good ammount of money 
Yeah i noticed already your words concerning the Italian even and i must admit that this also makes me a little suspicious but to be honest i dont see what would be the point of announcing an event and then cancelling it,i mean is there anything to gain out from all this situation?Obviously not from my point of view.
Anyway this event got cancelled so not much to talk about anymore i guess.

hehehehe...i guess u'r right.. i didn't think of this!! i think i put too much thought behind the "conspiracy" itself rather than the meaning/cause of it...
anyway the reason for writing this was that the gagarin guys anounced from radio that the it got canceled because of us listeners who did not get a ticket, so i wrote this post (after it was mentioned in the thread) because i had a different idea.. it is not that i believe the are trying to gain smthng from it (as long as they do return the tikets money as they promised), i just think that they are trying to cover up a fukup in their organising...
hopefully we get to see afx in the future !! (cmon bios guys, do smthng about it !!!)
