I loved it there in '99. I only had a week in the island and no party, but kicking back with headphones on playing Astral Projection under the stars on the beach with some wonderful mushrooms in my system was amazing.
I had a friend go this year and he said the FMP is rubbish, commercial as all hell and not safe in any way. A number

hi; just to check on this one, do you mean poison in the alcohol? or just drinking too much and almost ODing? (i really hope not the former!!)
i'm definitely not expecting a utopian trance peaceful bliss vibe; it's more the chaos and excitment of FMP i that should be quite interesting to just watch; to see what kind of crzy freaks are out there in the world!
also lookin forward to the other areas than haadrin, i hear there's more mellower + nice peoples about!

well, i am a bit ashamed i thought poison in the alc is even possible, the island was just simply beautiful.
here's my koh phangan 2013 review:
great beaches, interesting thai culture, awesome scuba diving, and of course above all that the party scene!
what more can someone who likes parties ask for in an island resort?
the locals are also very nice, and talking to one of them it seems that the majority of the locals there have been there for generations, so are quite proud to have been able to create a thriving economy out of the party scene, and indeed that mentality showed, no peoples being overly pushy, beaches cleaned every day, smiles abundant, bar staff helpin out those that had one too many drinks; etc.etc
one point of worry are there are quite a few properties that are shuttered very close to haadrin, it seems that the land owners there have gotten a bit greedy so are being too agressive with their prices so no one is pursuing those nice store properties... man definitely thought of an idea or 2 that i'd like to challenge in one of those store properties~ makin a modest living havin some kind of store caterin to party peoples there... hmm sounds quite a prospect, definitely more interesting than my current robotic nine to five... well perhaps in the future!
the memories there will definitely remain in my mind for quite some time; it really is quite a special unique place in the world!

I am going to the full moon party by myself because my friends don't have money.
I will probably be in www.bestwesternphanganburi.com Hotels from November 9th till November 11th and just hanging out in Bangkok before and after then.
If you are interested and going to be going my way let me know!
