last week of december...spend one week with the family in koh samui....they all will be leaving back for india after christmas...and i will then stay on for another week or two....primarily because i want to be at experience festival in koh tao for new years |

koh phangan for me was about food, discovering the island on a scooter and snorkling (or diving if you have the time to goto koh tao)

went to one of these 3-4 years ago, great people, relatively hidden location inside the island, straight up psytrance, not too much of the twisted stuff, but still, better than the mainstream beach parties by miles.

Koh Phangan is one of the best places on our beautiful Earth. I went to my first Full Moon in 1991, when it was small - went to some big killer parties in the late 90s and early 2000s. But best to stay away from those, unless hitting a one day prior or two days after the FMP, they sometimes have some killer DJs playing sets on the beach.
We just spent a month on the Island last year. It's still great.
Ban Sabai is a cool after party place. The Jungle Experience has a good vibe too. The best are parties that are festivals or smaller parties thrown once in a while - you have to find them. Make friends with locals. There is one dude on the South East side of the Island who I heard has his own beach who throws parties but I haven't been yet.
The Fire Poi on the Island is among the best in the world. Yuth and Gulf RULE! And the mushrooms are indigineous, which provides a very special trip best suited for the location.
The other great thing I like is that FMP attracts a lot of bad people. And so you can party with the typical LIGHT/Spiritual/nice people you get in a typical psytrance party, and also with some DARK/evil/sketchy people too. Which I kind of like. It's more representative of reality. I sometimes like it that there are these dark elements. I remember one party I went to in 1999 - at least 11 people died of various reasons. Drowning, suicide, murder, etc... This is not to scare you - it's just a different party experience. And if you want to stay away from all of that, don't go to FMP area in Haad Rinn - you can stay WELL CLEAR OF THAT. I don't really go to Haad Rinn to party anymore because it's way too commercial with drunk yobs.
Everyone on the rest of the Island is very chilled and cool. It's a very very special place. |

I'm heading to Thailand around Christmas/New Year and would maybe like to go to a psy party for old times' sake. How is this experience festival? It's a rather small party? How about the moon mountain party? I haven't listened to any new psy for so many years. Is it still shit?

Hi,
Any goa freaks here on the forum who could tell me about psytrance parties in Koh Phangan or anywhere else in Thailand ??
I did a lot of parties all around the world but still not in Thailand.
Sounds like a dream to dance at 6 AM on a thai beach.
Will come in November last week (full moon party ) soon to discover the free undergound electronic music thai scene.
Thanks for informations about goa parties, clubs, bars, recod shops, labels,...
