Why not lower the volume of everything except your kick and bass...?

try to lower the volume of all the channels.
put everything on silence, and then put the kick on solo, hear it out, try to figure whats cousing the distortion, close all effects on the kick (for starters).
after u get your kick working unleash the bassline channel and close all effects on him too.
note : don't let the volume of the channels get above the normal DB, dont let them go over the normal green lights.
open the master volume ( Ctrl + ) and check the volume not to be high so much.

if all of this wont help you then try to work with clean samples, generate your own soundz and make sure they r clean.
there is no reason why a clean sample wont work without distortion in cubase.
maybe its your speakers or the contacts between them to the amp, maybe somthing on the sound card.

if you want to learn how to make kicks, or at least know how to begin go to : www.infected.co.il
find there the "infected Kickdrum" section.
after you learn that, learn how to use EQ and make great kicks....

You just need to set the EQ on your kick channels!
Unless you have Studio monitors don't go crazy with the volume!

drum&bass
EQ yo "kick" and "bass" to seperate frequencyz,
cut bellow 20HZ lowshelf .
(let lower frequency ranges for the bass)
Compress each one with ratio:
about 4:1 for the kick and 3:1or3.5:1 for
yo bassline , "hard knee" and fast attack on kick ,
"hard knee" and little more attack on bass ...
Compression settings depends on
the "volume jumps" of your drum&bass.

Another one , to get the sound ride "bumpy"
EQ-out the low-end of your kick(all50HZ and down)
and put a short 38HZ sinewave on your kick .
This one always sound boombastic ,
be carefull with those sinewaves
sometimes this sub-bass
can mess-up with yo toprange bassline .

try to sidechain bassline to kick with compressor
that will make u'r bass sound low when kick is kickin
u'll hear no clips even on full volume on both channels           Jesus didnt dance, but his beat goes on

Another one,
Play with the velocity and the cut-off to make
quick streaming bass line!

original bassdrum
forget this "infected kick" for a moment ,
to get original sound , try to mix accoustic bassdrum
with "TR" bassdrum , put the accoustic one on top
range , and a lot of EQ'ing .
To get this one really punchy and boombastik , run
it through a compressor/gate with short attak .
mix them on velocity and play with attak of the
compressor.
If yo kicks become hard to mix together with eq
u can try to filter one of them a little with
lowpass or highpass , (depends where it sits on the
frequency range).
Very small resonant peaks on the top can b nice .
It's can b good to assign filter frequency
to aftertouch or velocity controller.

EZ ,

Peace.

Here it comes :

Bassdrum:
EQ: Cut below 80Hz to remove rumble
Boost between 80 -125 Hz for bass
Boost between 3 - 5kHz to get the slap
PROCESSING: Compression 4:1/6:1 slow attack medium release.
Reverb: it's almost always better without this .

Snaredrum:
EQ: Boost above 2kHz for that crisp edge
Cut at 1kHz to get rid of the sharp peak
Boost at 125Hz for a full snare sound
Cut at 80Hz to remove rumble
PROCESSING: Compression 4:1 slow attack med release.
Reverb: Tight room reverb (0.1-0.2ms)

Hi-Hatz:
EQ: Boost above 5kHz for sharp sparkle
Cut at 1kHz to remove jangling
PROCESSING: Compression use high ratio for high energy feel
Reverb: Looser than Bass n Snare allow the hats and especially the Rides to ring a little

BASS:
Compressed, EQ'd with a full bottom end and some mids (really depends on the track and bass style)

EZ ,

Peace.
