You can establish a spiritual connection with your guru, whether he is in this plane or not, when a guru accepts you and you make a vow to follow his path (Diksha) this bond is established eternally, your guru will help you for the rest of your lives until you attain self realization.
If your guru is not in this plane anymore, you can study his teachings, and tune your spirit with his by meditation, if you are an advanced yogi, you can even contact him in deep meditation.

Lets get one thing straight. The actual Kali Yuga has nothing to do with Kali the Goddess.
Sorry to disappoint you Moki but Kali in Kali Yuga refers to a demon not the goddess. The imagery on that Goa Gil CD cover is absolutely incorrect in my opinion. I have no idea why there is a picture of Kali and that is somehow suppose to be connected to Kali Yuga. You wont learn much about Hinduism from Goa Gil CD covers ok.
If you dont believe me here is a paragraph from the wikipedia page for "Kali Yuga"
(yes I know wikipedia is by no means the most accurate source of information we have, but I am quite certain that this little quote explains in correctly):
"Kali Yuga is associated with the apocalypse demon Kali, not be confused with the goddess Kali (these are unrelated words in the Sanskrit language). The "Kali" of Kali Yuga means "strife, discord, quarrel, or contention."

Kali in Kali Yuga: Pronounced K(uh)-Li , the A is not stressed and is a short vowel.
Goddess Kali: Pronouned KAA-Li, the A is stressed upon.
Kali the demon, from Kali Yuga, it is said will be fought by the avatar of Vishnu called Kalki [Cull-Key].
Please do not confuse

hello again, dear indian friends,:)
yes, for sure these are two different words, this is clear to me ( although i am aware that many ppl believe the word is the same about the kali yuga and the goddess kali ).
but do you consider it inappropriate to bring the two things in connection on a cover? does kali the goddess have no role in the kali yuga age?
and btw i am still looking for answers about kaligat und calcutta. i think i wrote a few word in the thread about it. i have some objects from india from this place. and i cant leave the idea that they are influencing everything i do....i dont know what to do with them.....may be you are more informed?:) the sadhu who gave them to me doesnt come to see me again.....i dont know what to do with them but i saw quite disastrous events in my life in the last months. like a curse. what should i do with these objects. they are representing the blood of kali in her month cycle.

not so new. it is almost a year since the case.
the indian community was shocked because she is using this as a costume ( lots of ppl in the west do this anyway). and i think they were right about it, cause i dont believe that the lady has any further knowledge of it. she is using a costume to look nicer on helloween and this is all. it is the same what the trance community did for many years . totally out of meaning.
it is a totally different thing to really know what this philosophy is all about by seeing it on kaligat or kumbha mela. two different worlds.

the indians and hindus who complain are not knowledgeable about their religion...hinduism is about openness, acceptance, wildness...in all reality its Paganism...everything goes..
as far as kali is concerned she was wild...the problem with the indian community that was so shocked and upset is the fact that they could not think of dressin up as kali...this made them jealous...Kumbh Mela is not the only place where you learn about hinduism...yes its exotic with all those naked babas...but the problem is that many of the babas have taken the path of escapism ...they have left their children, parents, wives etc in pursuit of their own selfish need to gain enlightenment...yes the babas are selfish and if you have hung around with some its blatantly obvious...the hindu manuscripts have never said no dressing up like gods so I dont see any issue with Heidi Klum...in fact if you go to the villages of india often there are religious and mythological dramas where children and grown ups dress up as gods and goddesses...unfortunately the ones who complain about the Heidi Klum are the ones who have failed at Hinduism.

thanks for the detailed answer.
hm i dont know. it is possible that we have again some differences in the cultural ideas, but to me something representing the blood of a goddess (like done in kaligat) is not just the next joke or the nice dress of kali to look weird and dark. it is much more serious to me.
