I don't have a problem with you going to the Kumbh, I have a problem with you basing your "superior" knowledge on one trip. Instead of instilling in you humility it gave you a sense of "I KNOW".... I think it's very childish of you to think it's stupid that Indian people know more about Indian Culture and Religion. Offcourse we know more...we experience it from the moment of birth, we are born from people who experienced it from the moment of their birth...we have ancestors who lived in these lands..SO no matter how many years you or anyone else from a foreign land stays in India, it can never make up for this. And it is very silly of you to find this "Abusive".
Animal sacrifices at Kalighat do not happen on the magnitude you speak off. Non vegetarian people can offer an animal for sacrifice that they will eat later in a feast, vegetarian people can offer a coconut or a vegetable for "sacrifice"... Killing a goat at a butchers is less desireable than killing a Goat at Kalighat where it is blessed by the Goddess and will be consumed after. You might find it dark, but to many it is not. Also note that Bengali's are usually not vegetarian. They eat alot of fish and meat.
Vedas are ancient Indian Texts...you can argue the origin of the Aryans, it doesn't change that it is Indian in origin written in Indian text, in an Indian language That the Aryans who came from the North (as you state) are the ones who are classified as Indian. This language still lives in Indian ONLY.

pf. the next negative bomb.

first i have a question , why dont you just go to the ashram yourself and study for years there instead of telling others to do it? do you get the idea? you are a bit funny with that. you are not even in india.

i know people with 50 and 60 who have really spent years in ashrams. although foreigners. and i would suggest you to think about the idea that they do know more about the thing than you do.

second. the language. of the aryans. do you know that the language of the vedas is the main fact that the scientists have in order to locate the place where the aryans come from? and you will find parts of this language in many cultures actually. some of the aryans went to the east, some to the south, and so on. for instance you cant imagine how much similarities we have in my own language with sanskrit, many things are exactly the same word with a small difference. i am sure that it would be extremely easy to learn sanskrit cause the words are the same in many fields, and thats exactly what i will do in the next years and i will read the scriptures alone without any gurus, teachers, and people like you.
you dont really know so much, you are not even in india now arent you, why dont you go to the rituals yourself and see, why dont you go to the ashram yourself for years?

then, as i said you have to search a little bit more. this is not just a bloody meal. it is a real sacrifice. if it is normal for you, and may be it is normal for different shamanic cultures, for me it is not. and any intelligent person would just search in google and find what you read everywhere. kali is dark in the theory ,face it. pity also that you use the word tantrumm and deny the tantric traditions.

sorry but in some temples i have seen in india, i see so sexual scenes that to be honest they are more professional than 99,9 percent of the porno films i have ever watched which were pure amateur fucking.

are you sure that the aryans are the ones classified as indians? is this what you read in your history books actually? cause i have another information in my history books, but the history of europe is a bit gentle with the aryan thing.

Wow Moki....
First of all, I do not deny Tantra, I understand it's essence and don't get hyped up on the sexual aspect
Secondly, being on an extended vacation out of the country doesn't classify me as a non Indian..I grew up there and spent 22 years of my life there, only recently have I been studying outside the country.
In temples, on the outside walls you will see many sexual scenes....I mean India invented the Kama Sutra what do you expect. But again, Kama Sutra is a science and not a religion. And while temple walls maybe covered with sex, the insides usually are not. And as I stated you will never find Kali in a sexual position in any one of her many temples...the sexual aspect is only found in Yoni Tantra. Once again, Tantra is a science. Like Yoga is a science as well.
Learning Sanskrit will not be as easy as you think it is.... but for sure give it a shot, but delete the notion that just because you speak German it will be a piece of Cake.
German has roots in Sanskrit as many other languages do, but there is nothing in Modern day German that you can say "many words are the same".....this sounds a bit bull shitty. Firstly it's not the vocabulary that is so intricate, it's the grammar that is mind boggling..but it's a good project and wish you success.           **************************************

You obviously haven't tried

Why dont you spare this "Spiritual " section...your half baked knowledge on every aspects of everything is taking us no where..
Being born and brought up in India, we dont have to run from ashrams to ashrams to learn and experience spirituality..so, kindly keep your lame arguments to yourself and refrain from posting on subjects you have no clue about.           --------

Fria,
you will be the only one to whom I will answer here, because the rest of the kids don' even interest me at all.
First of all, how many times do I need to tell you that I am not German?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I really ask you to check the first things you told me as I came to this forum ( the link is on the last page). In the Goa Gil Topic you state that only an Indian can be a Sadhu and there are no foreign sadhus. First, this is factually not correct, because THERE ARE foreign sadhus and I had the chance to see it with my own eyes in India. Second, and please pay attention to it, this is ana extremely ANTI racial idea and statement!!!!
We had already two world wars because of this ideaa, do you know that? It was not because the people loved to fight, it was mainly because ot the ARYAN thing and the VEDAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because the Aryans are not only the Indians. They come from another place, some of them went to India, others not!! And the most ancient knowledge on Earth comes from the ARYANS. THE VEDAS! And if you tell me that only an Indian can be a sadhu , and no foreigner, then i will answer you that every one who has the Aryans as ancestors can be interested in the Vedas and in the knowledge. SO i have exactly the same right to sit there on the Kumbha Mela as any other Indian and may be I have even more right.

ANd now kindly remember that i am not German. I have another language which is quite more similar to sanskrit as German. But German has similarities too, and it is not a coinscidence that these are the Indo-German languages.

Now I really had enough of this Indian bullshit, and I have to tell you that I am extremely sensible about the aryan thing cause it is an incredibly deep thing. This is incredibly abusive what you said in the Goa Gil Topic, not so much becuase of Gil ( he will be great with or witout your half knowledge) but because of the anti racial statement there!!!!!!!!! ANd this statement influences the whole interraction that I have with you here. ANd since others support your absolutely ridiculous statement, I have a problem with them too. Now kindly keep in mind that you are not the one to have monopoly over any knowledge, and I dont wanna hear any bullshit about wrong facts any more.

My dear friends, let's not forget that this is the spirituality forum.

OM let us protect each other together, may us enjoy together, may us work together, let our study become radiant, let there be no hatred between us, OM Peace, Peace, Peace.

Returning to the original topic, which is Kali it'd be really interesting to know the views of her from our friends in India, and I hope you don't mind If I share mine as well although if I make a mistake I humbly ask for correction

Kali is a fascinating devi, she is the fiercest form of Shakti (universal creative principle) she represents the rage of the divine mother that will do anything in order to protect her children from evil power, she is not terrifying at all, but rather gives a feeling of peace and security knowing we are protected by her inconditional love.

When Kali is referred to as the dark mother, it is because she represents Prakriti (Nature) in it's purest form, beyond name and form, completely beyond the illusory effects of Maya (Cosmic illusion) this is the reason she is completely naked.

Kali is the slayer of ego as well and the fiercest form of Durga (The inaccesible) she wields both the powers of creation and destruction may her love and strenght protect us from selfishness.

Jaya Kali ma!

If there was ever a man close to Kali, it was Sri Ramakrishna. So I thought it best to bring some of the things he said about Kali.

First, few words about him- Ramakrishna was a famous Indian 19th century mystic from Bengal. He came from a poor Brahmin Vaishnava family in a small village in Bengal. He was not formally educated (didn’t like school), yet from young age was very interested in all that had to do with the spiritual and learned all he could. Ramakrishna was known to go into states of Samadhi (very deep meditation, trance, totally disconnected from reality- usually achieved after years and years of practice) spontaneously, and this first happened to him when he was around 6 years old. He was a devotee of Kali, whom he referred to often as his Mother- Kali-ma. He quickly gathered disciples around him, though he never taught formally. He mainly answered questions and explained things often with the use of stories and parables. Unlike him, the majority of his disciples were educated Bengalis, the most know of them was Swami Vivekananda who also spread his ideas to the West. Ramakrishna and his stories and life story are all fascinating, and very appealing. I recommend reading The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna to know more about him from first hand impression.

So here’s a first text, taken from the The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna, there’s also a reference to the black color you were discussing earlier.

Keshab, a disciple, asked:

“Describe to us, sir, in how many ways Kaali, the Divine Mother, sports in this world”.

Ramakrishna answered (with a smile):

“Oh, She plays in different ways. It is she alone who is known as Mahaa Kaali, Nitya Kaali, Shmashaana Kaali, Raksha Kaali, and Shyaamaa Kaali. Mahaa Kaali and Nitya Kaali are mentioned in the Tantra philosophy. When there were neither the creation, nor the sun, the moon, the planets, and the earth, and when darkness was enveloped in darkness, then the Mother, The Formless One, Mahaa Kaali, The Great Power, was one with Mahaa Kaala, the Absolute.

Shyaamaa Kaali has a somewhat tender aspect and is worshipped in the Hindu households. She is the Dispenser of boons and the Dispeller of fear. People worship Raksha Kaali, the Protectress, in times of epidemic, famine, earthquake, drought, and flood. Shmashaana Kaali is the embodiment of the power of destruction. She resides in the cremation ground, surrounded by corpses, jackals, and terrible female spirits. From her mouth flows a stream of blood, from her neck hangs a garland of human heads, and around her waist is a girdle made of human hands.

After the destruction of the universe, at the end of a great cycle, the Divine Mother garners the seeds for the next creation. She is like the elderly mistress of the house, who has a hotchpotch-pot in which she keeps different articles for household use (all laugh)

-------

Is Kaali, my Divine Mother, of a black complexion? She appears black because she is viewed from a distance; but when intimately known she is no longer so. The sky appears blue at a distance; but look at it close by and will find that it has no colour. The water of the ocean looks blue at a distance, but when you go near and take it in your hand, you find that it is colourless.

Then Ramakrishna went into a state of trance and started singing:

“Is Kaali, my Mother, really black?
The Naked One, of blackest hue,
Lights the Lotus of the Heart…”

Then he continued

“Bondage and liberation are both of her making. By her Maayaa worldly people become entangled in ‘woman and gold’, and again, through her grace they attain their liberation. She is called the Saviour, and the Remover of the bondage that binds one to the world.”

Then again he started singing:

In the world’s busy market-place, O Shyaamaa, Thou art flying kites;
High up they soar on the wind of hope, held fast by Maayaa’s string.
Their frames are human skeletons, their sails of the three gunas made;
But all their curious workmanship is merely for ornament.

Upon the kite-strings Thou hast rubbed the maanjaa paste of worldliness,
So as to make each straining strand all the more sharp and strong.
Out of a hundred thousand kites, at best but one or two break free;
And Thou dost laugh and clap Thy hangs, O Mother, watching them!

On favouring winds, says Raamprasaad, the kites set loose will speedily
Be borne away to the Infinite, across the seat of the world. “

Then he concluded:

“The Divine Mother is always playful and sportive. This universe is Her play. She is self-willed and must always have Her own way. She is full of bliss. She gives freedom to one out of a hundred thousand.
