Welcome to the trance grammar school of Isratrance 2k3! [c]

Would like to open the first chapter by saying:

Ive been in this forum (well not only this, older versions too) for approx 4 years? correct me if im wrong...
4 years in here has shaped me and my way of thinking without a doubt, but it also changed the way i speak / write...

For me to enter this forum and see "KILLER" "kiiiiilllllleerrr" "wowowowow" "jumping smiley , juming smiley, smoking smiley and that all over again" is just not "good" enough... The artists and their work deserves ALOT more than just "KILLER"

When was the last time you read a "review" of a track or an album that didnt contain either of the 3 examples stated above?

Therefor im starting the Isratrance Grammar School Contest to make this a little bit more fun! How about realy trying to shape our reviews and comments about the music with more than just standard responses? see who can go all the way (kaz and surrender is already discualified)

It would improve the reading by far, it would make this a more intresting place to be, and it would become more informative. Of course as we all know people may say this track is "green" when someone says its "blue" but that is way more intresting than just "killer" or "wowowowow" of course this is all in my humble opinion..

So the quintessence of this thread is mainly to improve the way of speach / writing here!
Most of the people here know the word TERRIFIC or perhaps INCREDIBLE instead of just plain old boring KILLER!

this thread is KILLER......

Im out

Thanx for listening!

Anders

I just got the infinity project-mystical experiences rerelease and it is the masters at work. effervescent rhythms swimming beneath voices from the void. a spirit calls. the beat ensues. KILAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! hahaha

but seriously folks. lets improve our vocabulary, human language has an amazing ability to discuss the abstract. lets utilize it

I guess what you say applies mostly to the person starting a CD review thread. It's important that the first person reviews it thoroughly and with more than just smileys and killer.

But i think it's acceptable to let the people who read the review and then agree or disagree to respond with just "this is killer" or "this sucks". Besides, and i know i've been through this, i am just lost for words at times at the sheer mind-blowingness of a certain release, and all i can say is - Killer, man. WOW, this is insane.

Everybody does not have the ability to articulate their thoughts in english, and may find it easier to either support or criticize the release in a few words (though i agree that folks need to use more words than just killer. )

Nice thread, hope it makes a positive impact on the quality of this forum. It'll also help more if this is included in the CD reviews forum as a sticky instead of here.

A.Rosengren you are right about excessive usage of various words and various symbols but what your forgetting is what you hear and feel is not describable with words sometimes.

be serious.. i am...

Its not polite what is happening..

Would u tell Mozart his music was killer???

The artists these days are our own "mozarts" they deserve some respect in my opinion...

Very good point.. thats why "killer" gets used so much... why not try to describe the feelings this special tracks wakr up inside of you instead of takiong the easy and lazy way "killer"...

If its impossible.. well just dont hit "submit"

I agree ... I'm sure that most of the people on this forum feel and think much more about the music than a comment like "Killer" tells. Speak loud and a lot but don't ever be afraid to show your feelings ... music is mostly about feelings, isn't it?

I think then we would have very few replies to the threads. See my earlier reply about people not being able to express themselves well in a foreign language.

And i don't think it's impolite at all. If i was an artist, i would definitely want to see lots of supportive replies (even if they are full of smileys and killers) rather than 3-4 well-written replies. Wouldn't you?

its definitely difficult to describe music in words but its not difficult to describe feelings.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

To Music

Music: breathing of statues. Perhaps:
silence of paintings. You language where all language
ends. You time
standing vertically on the motion of mortal hearts.

Feelings for whom? O you the transformation
of feelings into what?--: into audible landscape.
You stranger: music. You heart-space
grown out of us. The deepest space in us,
which, rising above us, forces its way out,--
holy departure:
when the innermost point in us stands
outside, as the most practiced distance, as the other
side of the air:
pure,
boundless,
no longer habitable.

well i wonder if not being a native english speaker has anything to do with it? as Ozra pointed out.

although i will say that if someome is trying to say something more than "killa" we can usually understand them regardless of their 'grammar'.

btw i tried to use some other words in a cd review
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/30696/forum/9
but maybe i used too many other words as not more than 50 people have even looked at it.

which is fine, as that brings me to my second point: i think people want to read something fast. i think they dont want to spend the time reading a lot, esp. if english is difficult...

thanks for a good topic a.r.

peace           gotta have the wiggy AND the wonky
