Surrender.. Why do you call it trance? Trance is Tiesto, Paul Von Dyke, Armen Von Buuren ect ect ect. Isreal makes psytrance no? I see this all the time, people talk about isratrance as trance. Its psytrance not trance. I know we dont like to put music in boxes. But when it comes to this.. I do!

since the psytrance scene in israel is so big comparing to it's population, somewhere along the way we dropped the psy from the psy-trance, and we call artists like paul von-dyke or tiesto club-trance artists.

now, for the claim about lack of variety, Handa, this is not true: i agree with u about the full on movement here but there are also tech-trance artists (dark soho, pps project, triac, platform etc..), progressive (BLT, ETIC, Domo Rec., VP Rec., Trancelucent Rec.) and Ambient. the most famous are the full on artists but that's because they are simply the best in their genre. ofcourse, the progressive trance scene is bigger in northern europe but nothing wrong about saying that israel is the biggest psy-trance nation, again, comparing to it's size... Germany, UK, Australia, Greece, Japan, Sweden, Denmark are also very big but it's not a consensus as it is in israel. an example for that is the fact that almost every big music event in israel has psy-trance artists in it's line-up, plus many mainstream artists and rock bands collaborate with psy-trance artists.
cheers!

First i would like to agree to the fact that isrtrance is not in lack of variation.
Like pointy said: "i never listen to isrealien psy".
Me.. I mostly listen to isratrance. But of cource i listen to alot of non isratrance as well, because i feel that other countrys (especialy scandinavien psy) is more "true" to the real psychedelic goa concept. Isreal makes to much isra-full-on, yes. But as Mat N said. Thats mostly the big names your thinking of HandA. Give the unknown acts a chanse to.

But but but.. here comes what i fear will upset a couple of isrealiens in this forum.
Isreal made this scene BIG.. yes we all know and agree to that. The problem with Isreal is that its (to) big in isreal. And a natural effect of this evelotion, is that more and more and more kids of isreal wants to be like their big heros and make psytrance. Sorry to say that 90% of those kids dont even know the meaning of psychedelic music. And so this evolution grows. More non-psychedelic people makes psytrance (full-on) .. The situation is different in scandinavia IMO. psytrance is sooo small here that everyone that is publishing psytrance/goa in scando, makes.. well "real" psychedelic music. Isreal made this scene big, so i also fear they are the ones that are "destroying" the scene by making it to mainstream, and about the money.. So when psytrance is this big in Isreal, its also infected by capetalism.. Coca-Cola sponsors ect. And in my humble opinion, thats not good. Psytrance is a scene that can not efford to get "to" big.

YES! true! Israel is def' the leading POPTrance nation....everyone listens to "psy"trance....its the "cool" thing to do and i deff' think the music made here(by most and most succsessfull artists) is very "wide audiance" oriented!
i think Japan is allso a very POP scene, ofcourse the influance of "psy"trance on the nation(130,000,000 people)there is not even close to our little swamp....
i guess a change is possible "soon".....it can start maybe by a natural decay of the POPulairty of a music genre(see dictionary under "disco")or by discovering that "chagigat" and Psy music with a bit of dust causes a growth of a hairy nipple on your forehead......hehe ill be laughing my nuts off! and many others will start(or go back to) listening to belly dancing music and wearing vails...or just party in free of dust inviorments such as...clubs baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Cheers.

how come in all of this thread and the earlier link to israeli psy history is not one mention of indoor... marko ofer avi....
progressive trance - it was an amazing album, a different morning sound to the astral-abandon and miko-har-ell sounds and it was early, 1995 i think....
surely indoor deserve a mention in the history of israeli dance music
