btw this synth freaking rox ! too bad the attack is not very defined and slaming /cutting.
also be sure to always check the quality of the preset when trying them, depending the patch low or high can be better than ultra it really dull the sound in some cases.
if you like raw the low quality is fine in many cases but not always.. |

lol was tripping make more preset while triping on a tune , the 97psy preset into the culture vulture and some logic fx on it..pfffffff make me wonder why i bought a hardware synth once again..LOL not serious..but damn it s sound fucking awesome with the right midi line, ahhh or i m just to in trance and even shit sound good 
if some are up when we have more presets we could make a tune for fun just using massive |

i struggle to make some simple patchs i m used to make on some others synths to sound good..it have his own tricks and way of programing...
from the few lead patchs i made, most turned out agressive and screaming , i didn t like the sound i got for soft leads .. have to experiment more |

Yeah Massive covers a lot of Virus sound ground. And then adds to it heaps with them breakpoint modulators and although it does not have the grain and formant oscillators, it has some other great sounding oscillators...come one NI send me a link to download a legit version.

yeah but i would rather use the virus for some sounds , massive don't give me the same satisfaction and emotive effect that make the virus shine for some sounds. don't want to mean its not good, it s a beast for sure but maybe more cold but with great wavetables and modulations possibilty |

they got a Formant oscillator doo dah in massive as well, not as polished as the virus but deffinately the same principal
basically a band pass filter on every harmonic
where the virus lets you select the tuning of the root note and the scaling of the detune between the harmonics
massive kinda does both in one parameter, i think

i used it a bit in massive, but it s not what i was expecting..should read more the manual it seems very well made, there is probably some nice tricks there.
btw if their are giving it away there is probably massive 2 coming. |

anybody got around the crappy envelope on this bad boy yet
the weird thing is that theres an interview with erez from infected with him saying that he overlays a kind of hihat sound from massive over his entire tune at parts too add a bit of punch
suppose if i pm him on their forum hell tell me

i wish the envelop was a bit faster,tight and precise..imo envelops are a other area where software need improvment ...but it could be that ina analog synth the envelop do more than just enveloping, maybe act a little like a compressor with the amp dunno.. but there is defleinty something different goingon on my Xs adsr than i havent heard in years of software tweaking. when tweaking the filter envelop on a bassline, its just so precise, still musical , it don't react the same .. but for lot of sound software is fine and can be better cause of flexibilty, but would be nice they nail the sound of fast and punchy precise analog a/d stage.
its same feeling as comparing a good analog comp to most software. the guy who made dc8c shoule make a synth ! lol |

Same here! I cant make yet leads to fit with my tune well at the moment. I already made some really great atmospheres and pads but with the rest will take time i think.
I will upload some patches until the end of the day.

nice , will make some more when i have time, athmosphere and all this it s probably amazing
it really shine at strange sound too..futuristic ones , also minimal techno sounds,bassline...i used it mostly for this in the past.
heard great psy leads in a friend tunes , maybe he will join the thread.. what i like is that synth can have a very spoted sound..a kind of polish with good density in the mids with lazy rounded attack, it sound kind of the signal passed into some
analog gears with slow transient and phat mids and a nice glow
the caractere can be very distinctive that always nice to have synth like this. |
