I have heard a lot of people saying lately how much the NY scene has been growing. True or false? and why?           my cat is deathly afraid of aluminum foil

Localsky, IMO a healthy nyc scene consists of the whole metropolitan area. meaning: nyc itself has about 500-600 active trancers at most, not all can make it to a party every time (personal reasons, work etc..) also, not all have the same taste, some purely full-on and some purely progg. so at any given point you never really see the whole scene at a party, even if the party is "good".
now i think that a healthy scene sucks people from their homes around nyc... and to me around nyc is as far as boston in the north and washington dc in the south, with cleveland as the western front. if party organizers are able to bring those people to events, then we have a healthy scene... an extended family type of deal. fresh faces, along with the nyc core is what is happening now...
it is all up to the organizers, i dont beleive in the "if u book them they will come" i beleive that there is much more to a party then just booking a huge act, it is the detail that counts: legality of venues, the care, the love and the energy invested in the crowd that makes a party excellent and most importantly causes people to return.
a few years ago, synthetic sadhus reached a point of 1000 at a party, people from all over, not just nyc residents. the people who came for the synthetic sadhus name without knowing who the acts are that much, yet trusting the organizers blindly. a good name is something that takes time, but its something that helps a scene mature grow and strengthen.

an aside to surrender's very well put post ..

i think lately, the attitude among the community has changed, largely due to the renewed efforts of organisers who not only get great acts down, but also create the environment that goes hand in hand with such a party ...

with more events like the one last week (fred, dennis et al ) people are beginning to realise that we can have a banging night here in new york just like the israelis and indians and south africans are always talking about - and thats going to draw more people into the scene ..

after all, i think its a lot more than JUST the music at a party, and for 30 dollars, you want the entire deal - great deco, great music, no security foul ups, clean pure LOUD sound, etc etc .. organisers are creating actual parties now, looking into each detail that makes the party a "crazy crazy crazy night" versus an "oh yeah , DJ x played here last week .. it was an ok party .. " ..

as for the organisers - there are more of them , they are far more dedicated, and thats showing a really positive effect ...

ok now that ive said such nice things about all you new york organisers, dyou think someone could be a darling and bring me a south african act ?? ( vanna, where are you ??? )

boom .. !
          paagal power ..

Well, I went to a Tsunami halloween party last year in NYC, And I went to the Ecliptic Trance party last week.
I'm not trying to compare between the two, because IMO both Ecliptic & Tsunami are a blessing to the Big-Apple.
No doubt that the NYC scene is growing...
Sahil mentioned stuff going on in the next few weeks, but I'm pretty sure we're going to see a bunch of surprises this year!
The real question IMO is - When is the NYC scene going to expand and expose the rest of the U.S. what it's all about .

...well... the Halloween party last year (Oct 2003) was not a Tsunami party... it was an Ecliptic party...
So I think you are talking about two Ecliptic and
are just a little

maybe you are talking about a Halloween party two years ago, I dunno... but for the last few years Tsunami
parties, in terms of the local NY scene, are kind of well, how should I put it, not in the center, lets say.....
sure they are big in numbers... but thats about it.
Sure they bring big artists, but keep bringing the same ones. Why the NewYork scene is growing is because there are other people and groups doing parties, and going strong...
Ecliptic, Alladin, Omni Tribe, Sound Species, Phantasm,
and local weekly parties... and collaboration between these party production people....

hehe ..
Yeah man ... I guess I forgot it's 2004
It was two years ago .. humm If I remember correctly it was in the 'Culture Club'.

Whatever it is NYC organizers are doing - They should keep on doing it

About bringing the same artists? Humm.. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with that..
I'm sure that if they could they would bring others... Maybe the artists that have already played in NYC just wanna keep coming back
After all - you can't deny the special vibe NYC trancers have

The scene in the rest of the US is growing, too. I think it's going to be one great summer! And maybe the psy-heads from NYC will come out and (gasp!) travel to other parts of the country!

Outdoor festivals can be a lot of fun!

other reason maybe because the people have more acces to the diversitivity, internet and other visual media, include communication such cellphones ("to make sure from friends that the party is tonight not tomorrow night"), emails, mailing list, good search engine and good keywords, open minds, curiousity and the last should be reputation. psytrance reputation in all underground gathering in new york is being watched by the peace searchers, ALMOST NO CRIME CASE BETWEEN PEOPLE IN PSYTRANCE SCENE EXCEPT OUTSIDER SHALLOW MINDEDS WHO CAME TO START THE FLAME (not to except rave scene). sorry back to the diversity. people in a same desire of love and open third eye loves tobe together from many different background and be strong just like Jehan said. like us here, look at all these flags we use, very proper and usefull symbols introduced to be united and new york population support that, not as formality fake mask like they use in topground arena. only in psytrance scene you can see israeli and indonesian hugging in pure peace mind and eating from the same plate. where else you can find like this? no where. even want to say hello to each other, but its just a sample, so look at the grguy gallery link below, see the photo number 095, not to mention number 120 or 131. so definitely getting better, the only last people that need to see our peacefull mind is al the rule makers or the power that until now don't like to see us happy.
