Hello... thanks for all your answers, very interesting.

Hmm... I also really can't see how minimal is boring and easy to make? kaz, you stole my thoughts here. I find minimal very interesting music and I think it's strange it just died...

Anyway I think minimal will return big time within 10 years... trance is such a big genre today... and the principle of minimal - use very few sounds, but still being not monotone, and very varied - I think it's just an too intelligent idea... to just, well... I think the principle is there. I think people will get the idea again.

Anyway, suggestions of music sounding a lot like Shiva Chandra (the Auricular and Gecko albums, not Subsonic), well I still want suggestions. Doesn't matter if it's old! So please write if you want.

Happy new year everyone!           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

so true man!

I think it that style became too much minimal
therefor it become very boring with no colors.

I think the "full on" style has developed hardly with wonderfull quality and wonderfull melodies.
as sound engineer I find lots of great psytrance (full on...whatever you call this style) artists who make real quality music with lots of lines and this is so great for the psytrance genre!

lots of new audience will like this genre soon!
lets hope psytrance will get huger favor than rap (in my dreams hehe)
can you imagine this happened?!

my god... u are like me before

I am really amazed and shocked by what I have just read.
My thoughts are:
1. Full on is not harder to make than minimal/progressive.
2. It takes real talent to make progressive/minimal music that keeps people dancing. More so than full on!
3. I dont think that this goes for all full on music......but.....I have no doubt that those who take a lot of ecstacy/speed are usually the ones going mad to the full on sets. Take away the ecstacy and I wonder how differently they would react to the music.
4. Good music will make people dance no matter how full or fast the track may be.
5. Constant, cheesy build ups that make all ecstacy takers go mad is done by everyone....I think thats pretty easy to do. Why does everyone call most of the full on being released at the moment "formulated"? Lets hear something new!

6. Those who are just speaking to protect the genre they like should stop and have a listen to guys like:
Sensient
Sun Control Species
Kent
Freq
Sub 6
Domestic

And correct...not all these acts are minimal/progressive.......we call em psygressive or intelligent full on.

7. I pray that one day soon the old sounds of guys like Noma and Intact Instinct will return. Doesn't work indoors....but thats real bush trance music.

Isn't the whole point to be put in a trance....good minimal/progressive/psygressive music will take me on a journey more so than 90% of the full on acts.

Anyway.....the main thing is to enjoy whatever does it for you......I just dont think minimal is dead. Well I hope not anyway!

And by the way - you can count the amount of elements in each track by GMS, Synthetic or Logic Bomb, and count the amount of elements in a track by Shiva Chandra... While Shiva Chandra is a minimalist, he has usually over DOUBLE the amounts of elements in a track than GMS do (not true for his Auricular project, btw), more than most full-on acts as well. Minimal music does not mean less diverse.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

oooi KAZ i dont understand people like you ...

minimal will not die and i wont let it... why cant u full-on clubber bunny bumpers just accetp the fact that harder is not better.. a track does not have to have 37 different kinds of high hats, toms, squeaks and beeps to be good and dancable..

minimal, progressive, minimal to progressive and all the other non full-on dance music is kickass...

i once upon a time liked fullon ... there are still tracks that are good... even one or two in the final stages of my set ... but fullon will die before the rest .... it has already reached the burnout stages...

i was very upset when a producer i looked up to ... turned arround and said he didnt like minimal or the proggy stuff as it lacked percussion... he officially in my books now lacks a brain ...

why cant everybody just accept the fact that there are other styles and that not everyones taste is the same? i know i have slagged off fullon now and people .. but i deemed it necessary to convey how i feel ...

this is an argument that will not die till fullon does.. your all worse then a bunch of goths in a hip hop club...

listen to what u want do what u want ... there will always be poeple who will join u or slag u off for doing it or liking it ... peeps .. full-on verses the rest trying to have everyone accept both of them is like trying to obtain world peace .... its never gonna happen

Goblim: dude minimal and the proggy stuff isnt dead.... Opsis go have a listen to them... minimal tech trancey kinda stuff... Minimal though:)

i DJ for Hypno-twist Productions.... and my set goes from minimal ... all the way through to a few fullon tracks.... its not dead at all its just the people like KAZ who refuse to accept that there is other good music out there and wont play it ... go check out cujo hes a minimal produces and hes still going...

laters...
