true, the real minimal-to-the-bone is pretty "dead" (still some labels releasing it for sure).
i for myself am not in this kind of music toooo much anymore, i prefer the golden centre between minimal/psytrance. there is so good acts around in these hybrids....
lets see what comes next.
btw, "everybody who has a pc can make a minimal track". LOL the same goes for fullon too, everybody with a pc can make it...the question is, if it's good. and there was much better and more innovative minimal music around in 2001 than good fullon today.

peace in & out and open your mind a little bit. cheers           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

the true pure old minimal is dead...

in fact...its not dead, those minimalist artists have finally understand that it is about time to add more run-power and atmosphere in their music - making it more satisfying and shining . its not dead - just upgraded a few levels [and now its not minimal ofcourse , it has turned into a true musical creation. ]

MUSIC !!

looks like Minimal is really dead... anyways it is closed... Labels are not looking anymore for new names... they are just continuing releasing their label residents (like Digital Structure - Son Kite, Ticon, - SPiral Trax - the same situation) ... smaller labels have no new releases... techno? looks like is finally dead... even boshkee beats do not show us any more stuff..

I can't believe the amount of people that say minimal music is easy to make, because it is actually the HARDEST.
Composing a loop which will be really interesting (with a little changes maybe ), even on the 100th time is so much harder than composing 100 loops which will be interesting enough to play one time.
This is the essence of minimal.

Now lets talk about today's full on. Basically, what you need for a making a full on track is:
1.catchy bassline
2.catchymelodies (or melody)
3.atmospheric sounds that "proove" the artist's skill in manipulating sound.
4.obvioues percussion to make the mix fuller.
5.a sample from a drug movie (optional).

THAT'S IT. No innovation and no originality whatsoever, just plain formula.
Infact, I think I can make a full on track in 2 hours, it's so god damn easy.

Full on fans - How do you feel now?
Do you like being generalized, categorized and "outsmarted".
I don't think so, me neither.

Infact, I don't like full on nor minimal, I like GOOD MUSIC. I like music that makes me dance like there's no tomorro, I like music that makes me want to rewind and hear "that part" again the first time I listen to it, I like music that exceeds all limits, crosses all boundaries and sends me to heaven (or hell ).

well minimal is not dead thats for sure.

we just name it different. progressive i think became the standart...atmos head cleaner and son kites miniloug came out the same time more or less...son kite i think was a first loud glimpse for minimal/tek trance..atmos for the up-lifting tek/house trance...

so minimal still alive at this way or another.. check trimatic (another son kites projects) a yaer back..or pope of gegga last album...(2-3 months..)

not dead. just evolving.

has any one heard "minimal animal" by Krumelur?
or "suspended Animation" by Sensient...? dry is the last way to describe it and it is oh so very Psycedelic(or did the meaning of psy' change while i was in the shower) any way...i think that what died is the build up in the parties...u get to the party at 01:00 and the BPM is allredy at 145+
WHAT ABOUT THOESE THAT ARE NOT USING AMPHETAMINES?...the best parties i was at since 1996 are the ones that started DARK and SLOW and climbed up slowly through the night and as the first ray of light hit the eyes of people the melodies and BPM were the ones giving the stomping power
i spoke to various DJs(psytrance and fullon) that tought the same thing and that would love to have the build up days back for every ones favour.
since i play Dark Minimal-Progg' music i would like to allso say that i understand that people love FullOn but i allso know that people are very happy to hear some diffrent stuff and if 2 hours out of 8 or more hours in a party have a diff' color and feeling...well its just more interesting.
have a nice TRIP.
Nomolos.

p.s this whole thing is a "magical circle" the music people hear at parties is the ones they look to buy or get and so on and so on...just try and listen to the new minimal stuff from Sensient ,Frechbax etc. and u will see the circle will brake...or go to some undergroung gatherings and take a deep breath from the vibe i think u will all see that there is VERY good stuff and that combaining ALL of what this scene has to offer is the way to go.

heyall

well i plaied with this guy above me (dj nomolos) and what can i say..i dont like minimal anymore but as a buildup to a party (hours1-3 or 4) its the best thing ! i have to agree that 145 and up from the beginning of the party is bad to everyone.

but i dont agree that full on is amphetamin music thats gabba

minimal is not dead
BUT
more and more people become bored this music because more and more kids make that kind of music and its hard to find quality minimal...
Get rid the pessimistic "friends" and you will find everything is much beautiful.
Everything/one is special, some of us just don't know how to appreciate it.
