inspired by jiga i thought i go meet capitalism halfways thru.
i was thinking about publishing some of my stuff on my webpage and charge somewhere around 4 euro a peice for an ep + shiping depending on where it going.
and maybe 8-9 euros for an album + shipping.
But i will also offer a warranty that if one of my cd's has become scratched or unplayabel during a DJ Set i'll replace it against that we spilt on the shipping.
This idea just popped out of my head, so gimme som feedback of what you guys think about the concept and prices??
PS! i will still support the label that releases my stuff and not sell that material on my site or thru an agreement between me and the labe!!

about the warranty, you would need to send back the scratched disc so i can verify it.

I think the artist-to-listener market is pretty interesting, and it will grow in the following years - especially with mp3s and other formats in mind (which have been discussed many times before).
The prices you've mentioned definatly seem fair, and if the music is good, I'll definatly support you and buy some.
I respect that you want to provide something extra for your customers, but I would guess that the extra warranty could turn out to be a problem for yourself - be careful, and don't take on more than you can handle.

yeah, it's true about the warranty but im thinking about doing some way of branding them, dont know how yet but if i can then it would be ok to do the swap.
cause you have to return the original disc to me...
Got any good suggestion to add to this idea??

i think thix is a GOOD idea...infact one of the best last times...
agree with prices...seem very fair!
keep going...
and maybe, the lastest releases, can quickly be sold out...without losing time in downloading them in the net...good 4 all i think...

nice idea...i think its a very fair deal...would there be a way to listen to the whole cd/ep on the site??
about the return issue...if u set a time limit that u can return the cd it might work...any cd even bought in a store can get scratched!!
so i think u should give a short warranty.
i think the main issues here are the posibility to hear the cd before and ofcourse high quality recording!!!

im not really in it for the money but i think it would be a fair way to put some money into the studio aswell, and to get some publicity...
DJ Nomolos - i would prefer if snippets three from each song would be ok or a lo-fi version of the track that lets you get a feel (in a lo-fi way) for it.
a3k- yeah i think it would be good for everyone or at least fun...
Im not doing this to put an end to Labels, but as a complement to them, im still gonna send demos to labels and hope that someone else would want to release the tracks aswell.

Interesting fresh Dist. idea bro!
Buying material straight off the artist not only benefits you, but let's the listener actually "Express" his appreciation in a more 'fan-to-artist' way - which imo is pretty damn cool!

yeah, it's gonna take me a while to do this because of my main work, but i'll try my best to full fill it...
i got a friend helping me with a php set up a site where you do a secure order.
what would be best, paying C.O.D or thru pay-pal or similar??

oh sorry didn´t know, but if u have it more expensive...then charge it 2 the ones who are buying the cd...when i work (in my city hall) 4 e.x.without receives, i don´t charge more than usually, if people ask that, i explain it they hav 2 pay it more expensive...
i think everything talked can resolv a lot of issues.
