I read an article once that gave credit to Eyal Barkan as the person who brought trance to almost every house in Israel. I wont deny he had some impect on Israel, and Israeli artists(even Infected started as "nitzhonot" artists).

But do you really think he should be given that much credit? After all his music wasnt exectley what I would call trance, and groups like Astral, and California Sunshine already had an impact on many people.

Do you think the writer was right in giving him too much credit?

i think the writer doesn't know what he's talking about... Astral and California and let's make it clear - Eyal Barkan's music makes me wonder why Darvin couldn't think of the missing link ;)

no offense, right?
i just think it's bad, really bad. not intellegent.

i have both AP and EYAL and HOLYMEN AND California C.Ds lying around here form the late C.Ds....

thing is where i got them from - Eyal and holymen - from everyone, school, friends, shooks and etc..
the AP c.ds and california were harder to get a rech of :)

I agree that it brought trance to every house. Before it very few people were aware of trance. Nitzhonot brought many people into psychedelic track (including me), but also gave trance a bad name. Give and take...

took the words out of my mouth. i know some ver hard trancers who started with Nitzchonot, and moved on to better things.
i've been listening to 80's electro stuff, old techno and metal since i was very young, but that's my background, and i guess i was just lucky to grow up with a sister like mine, and a father who plays pink floyd, led zeppelin and the police. by the way, he even like psy now. :)

that's all there is to it nothing more.

nitzhonot = comercial/"pop" trance

it was his job to bring the trance to every house.

I started from European Trance and of course AP and indoor... but I never EVER had listened to Eyal Barkan and I will never do so! The kid got himself a golden Disc for selling 25000 copies in israel! hehe ... I remembering him even in the GYM :)

a trend - the worst kind. (he's got a brother too.. Oren)

Eyal Barkan should be given credit for making the morning trance line a little less psy and a little more club. That was his ENTIRE impact on the scene.

He made it grow, yes (and IMO, in a wrong way). He didn't change anything when you compare his compilations with albums by AP, MFG, Har-El or Power Source (and a lot of others too).

Guys, Attached is something that I wrote for I604L back in Early 99. Read it and see if it is still relevant.
Bom Y'all
Well I do think this subject has to be brought up

>i got to watch quite a bit of channel 6 (arutz hayeladim),and I was >shocked to see that the show today  is themed about electronic >music.
>Eyal Barkan and some other guy were there, played that stupid >dardasim track you are all talking about, Yael bar zohar and Dana >Dvorin jumped and danced with a large group of kids, and then the >obligatory chat with the DJ.
>Now, if I may express my humble opinion - I don't like barkan's >music, but I do think that the fact that you can now hear trance in >every grossery store, is only because of him. And this does not has >to be bad...
>Yep...
>Harel
Well as most of us on this list know Eyal barkan is targeting himself at a slightly different audience then most that includes mostly people who need extra punchy bass and super simple melodies with alot of uppers (aliot) and not to much psychedelic stuff (what we call stupid music) ,these people are either newcomers to trance that progress afterwards to more Inteligent stuff or just stupid people, you can find artists like him in every genere and they have their importance in popularising the style and yes I know we don't really want to be popular we like the underground but think about the next senario a huge four day trance festival somwhere outdoors, 40000 ppl attending, preforming on stage are X-dream, Total eclipse, Etnica/Pleadians/Crop circles, Astral projection, MFG, Mark Allen, Tsuyoshi, and whoever else you can think of. the police is not only aproving of the festival but is providing security against unwanted and violent elements the ministry of tourism is sponsoring the event and publicising it outside of israel, etc...
This all can happen if trance will be a popular or at least acceptable musical style like rock and dance. and eyal barkan is doing just that for our cause and BTW he was chosen in No 52 of the most influential ppl of Tel Aviv newspaper and has recieved a golden record for the sale of more than 20000 copies of Good Morning Israel not including the pirate copies being sold at the tachana merkazit in TA.
and I'm not even talking about all the parties that Mr barkan is DJing and that we know not to go to but that take all the Arsim and let us party queietly with our own croud (even though 5% arsim at a nice "beautifull" party is quite an amusing thing).
so altogether even if we don't like his music his actions are really commemorable
so all hats off to Mr Barkan.
Ohm nama shivaya.
