Well, I picked up the latest issue of Rolling Stone today, (FYI: the biggest and most influential music magazine in the world), and to my suprise they had a small article about the music scene in Israel (page 23 US edition)

Most of it is about how the music scene is struggling with the war, but they did a little, tiny reference to the Trance scene: "Trance music swept Israeli youth culture in the mid-1990's with giant raves drawing up to 10,000 people to dance all night to homegrown electronic artists and DJ's such as Infected Mushroom and Ella Gotman."

Now, I know some people will find this a bad thing (keeping trance underground etc.) but I find it very encouraging to see any kind of reference to our small scene especially in a respected magazine like Rolling Stone.
First of all they called it Trance, and not Psy-trance, Which is good because I think it is really important to get away from the notion that Trance is music made for taking drugs, as the term Psychadellic Trance refers too. Second, This has to be the first time that a group like Infected Mushroom has been mentioned in any kind of mainstream magazine (at least in the US) and this kind of publicity can do them only good.
Every issue of this magazine goes through millions of music lovers hands, so hopefully they will do some research and buy their CD. There is no doubt that the american music market is the biggest and most important in the world.
Just look at the Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, the Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy, Aphex Twins, etc. These are all foreign bands that had their music taken to another level after being exposed in the US.
Now I might be taking this a little too far, but I am an optimistic person by nature. Rome wasn't built in a day. I just hope that we will see some more real progress in the future.
Pick up this issue if you get a chance (with the Spiderman chick on the cover).

its taking some time to catch on here, but thats just the way it is going to be.

i'd like to add that the trance scene in the US is truly INTERNATIONAL because at the parties I see mostly Israelis, Indians, Eurpeans, and the least number are actual Americans.

Most of the ppl going to the parties here are foreigners.

Well in every country, it takes time for the trance scene to become exposed to the outside world.
In japan it took a long time, for many organizers dreams to come true. But now it has gotten out of hand. Trance is on TV, Magazines, Radio, any communication that is possible.
Well its good to know that this Rolling Stones wasnt bashing the trance scene as many other magazines do.

i always get annoyed when i tell people i listen to trance and they immediately think paul van dyk and binary finary.

one of the clubs in london describes the music as 'new form music' now - personally i think this is a little pretentious, but it is certainly true that in the more main stream press we have an image problem, so i can understand their motivation.

mind you do we actually care what the mainstream press thinks?           >>love will tear us apart...<<

i don't think most of the people in here care about what the media thinks about trance... but the thing is that people who don't really know trance are getting some good information about it... and not just the idea that it's some drug freaks party...

That must be Hallucinogen - LSD {live mix} or Hux Flux - Degauss. Or maybe Astral Projection - Mahadeva 99'.
But when i trying to get my friends into the psy trance i always start with Shpongle/Dancing with Kaddafi/Bust a move tracks.
