Every forum has one...
In online gaming, folks like BrainLizzard are called "ragers".
In forums they can be called the same, or simply referred to as pessimists; "pests" for short.
They appear to be self-righteous and abiding by rules of argument and such, but what is frequently overlooked is the fact that "argument" is not necessary and rarely constructive.
What I have found in the 3 years of running a message board is that trying to disprove what they say, no matter how much you are right, does nothing but fan the flames.
Ignore them and reply to something worth replying to, if you act as if they dont exist, they will usually end up saying or doing something bad enough to result in their own removal from the forum. Don't get yourself dragged down with it. Its pointless.
You can usually spot a "rager" by excessive quoting, as using a persons statements against them often results in the boiling of blood.
"Opinions are like recta: everyone has one, and everyone thinks everyone elses stinks. So keep yours covered except when you really have to let something out, and keep your nose away from someone elses."
Now I want everyone to smile, shutup, and dance. Okay? |
