With all these tracks getting churned frantically every week, how important would you rate the Name of a track??

Is it important or not?

I think the name of a track should have connection with the story of the track.

Some trax have the weirdest possible names.
And some have no imagination. Take for eg the "Revelations" by TIP WORLD.Great music, but come on!!

i really dont care .....

somehow i never look at the track names until some song randomly rings some bell ...... most of fullon tracks have no connection with the content .....

like the Audialize Vs Midival Punditz - Dark Age Rmx .... awesome tune but somehow i dont see the connection with any sort of dark age ..... its a very uplifting track .......

peace

Most tracks really don't have names with any sort of meaning behind it... Ofcourse there are those which are named after a voice sample in the track itself... or even after the mood a track creates. As long as they're not crap/bullshit names I don't care... I myself see tracks as numbers on cd's rather than tracknames on cd's.           To hell with reality! The name matters but isn't that important to the songs, what does really matters it's their contents!

Have a good time all the time!

@Nemco.

True. Most traxs dont have any meaning behind it.

But dont u think there shud be some connection between the atmosphere crerated by the track and its name.

@redlink.

Well of course. U cud name it 1 and 2, but after putting so much work into makin the track, a lil creativity wud'nt be too stressful.

@blue Orb

yeah..one of my fav trax of 2004. They use a very famous Indian sample in the track.          ~*** You can tell By the way i use my walk, Im a woman's man, No time to Talk***~

For me everything work on has a meaning. Every track i have produced has a story behind it, as i don't just sit down with an empty head and produce.
I don't just take it out of thin air.

Every sound has a meaning, it's build from something i've seen, dreamt or read about and that is why for my it shows if the artists just makes the track without having a real inspiration from it or he/she just made it from what it is...

And what i am saying is not a bad thing tho. Artists work diffrently.

Taken from what really matters in this music creation it dosen't really matter, as i said before it just shows how the artist(s) mind(s) were when they made the track..

Neutral opinion

@June

I take it its more common amongst Chill out producers than the full on variety.

I find ambient stuff has a better connection with the story and the name of the track.           ~*** You can tell By the way i use my walk, Im a woman's man, No time to Talk***~

Ummm... Tracks... The produceres, give them names... Thats it... Not much to discuss here...
I think in psytrance the name of the track helps to create its concept, since there no lyrics, all you have got to use in order to create a concept is sounds, samples, and the track's name... So it can be rather important.

Sometimes the track name can be interesting, and really connected to the track, specially if the track have samples.

For example:

D-Tek vs Mexican Trance Mafia - Apple Talk

Sample:

"Was it that nice to have a computer that talk to you?"

So, it's possible that the track name "Apple Talk" is not talking about the fruit "Apple", but about an Apple computer that talks in his own language, in this case maybe music...

I got lots of other examples...
Respect!           .
...Be gentle with the earth...
...Dance like nobody's watching...
.
...I don't mind not going to Heaven, as long as they've got Coffee in Hell...

Yes, the name of a track does help in defining the track.

Just a while ago, i was enjoyin Karsh Kale's album - Liberation, and i really connected with hsi music. Everytime i noted the neame of teh track i did understand the reason behind it.

I do think that... and it does happen, but lets face it, it's not allways possible, and the atmosphere that the creator of the track feels might be different from the atmosphere that comes across to us...

Personally... I'd never make a track and give it a bullshit name... like something which makes it hard for me to take the track serious...           To hell with reality! I Think That The Name Need To Be Connected To The Story Of The Track.....
Its The Name Its Supposed To Describe The Music....

I dont think the name of the track is at all important for the musical experience - only the sounds count.

However, I think, when you have the chance, you might as well use your imagination and create something with meaning to it.

Whether it be trippy, funny, philosofical or whatever

When reading a tracklist, you do connect with the artist in a differnet manner than when you are listening to the music.
It can also be a factor in shaping our culture, just as much as whatever info you put in booklets + cover design.
