Importance of crowd?

i agree that the people are a big contribution for the good/bad vibes on a party. but there is a little problem here and it reffers to which are those "good people/crowd"???

i often hear coments about how undesireable the crowd on a party is, how people don't know how to dance, dress bad or are not fampus "goa-trancers" who don't know anything about the music, or they get overexcited on "crapy" music.................BLA...BLA...

according to some, if the people on the party have some characteristics as the ones listed above than the party is shity. and these things are usually comented by those "famous goa trancers" who have been in the scene for a longer time and know many things related to the music it self, or maybe are dj's or friend's to dj's....(dont get me wrong it's not nececarily like this)
so, what these "perfect goa trance" guys do is go on parties, stay somewhere in the back with fake smile on their faces and critisise. they underestimate and consider everybody else around them as being not good enough to be part of that party because of reasons such as the ones i wrote before and other which only they know.

hence, this is the situation:
there are these people who are having fun and give energy to the party but u see, they are "not good enough"; and the other part of the crowd, which are the famous "goa trance freaks" sitting somewhere aside critcising and underestimating the rest of the crowd which they consider undesireable.
so, which people would make a better vibe on a party is up to u to decide and feel. whereas for me....well i'd rather go on a party where there are people having fun no matter if they are or not "goa trance" enough, than to go on a party where the "babas" would observe every single detail which does, but shouldn.t concern them.

there is this situation existing sometimes on macedonian parties, however there are some excelent people from whome one smile or a word can enlighten and fill u up with positive energy.

this is why i can't say and agree with what rippa said, although sometimes it's true, because imo the dj/artist would play way better music if there are people dancing and the energy is positive than if the crowd spreads negativity, no matter the if people have a great understanding in music.

luckilly, this contradiction does not exist on festivals where the people are from all over the world and what they just want is to enjoy.

          Why u little !!!

Just a comment !

The trance scene was build on the vision that no matter who you are, what clothes you wear, what religion you have, what hair and eye color you have you were welcome to come and party.

That has sadly died some years ago and is now replaced with intollerant people (not all - thank god) who dress equal, think the same and point fingers at those who "dare" to be different.

Ok on to the topic

A crowd is of most importance to a party and without a crowd that enjoy themselves the party is doomed from the beginning. It's not the DJ or the band that create the party... It's the people on the dancefloor. Without them the DJ or band would be nothing.

The crowd is the most important factor for a party. The thing that is so special for me in a trance party is that it is not an individual experience but a communal one. The experience of a good party is not an individual one, it's a social, tribal thing. It's the looks in other ppl's eyes in the morning, it's getting to know others without even talking to them, just from dancing together in nature for a night and and a day (or more), it's being in nature again and feeling its rhythm together. It's a tribal thing.
In our modern life most of us do not experience the tribe, a social unit which is a basic one in human life, and is still there in our genes or racial memory or whatever. The party can give that back to us and that's why the crowd is important.

And yes, a party is a place where all are welcomed, always was.
However, what have happened is that people arrived to parties and started bringing with them violence, that's why selections started, and these will always be based on external criteria unless you know a person. Maybe its natural, maybe you need to become a member of the tribe first. Don't know what's the solution here really.

I must say though, that most of the parties that happen these days are not very tribal in feel. They're not really parties for me either.

i agree with what everyone here said, and andrejcid, you are also right about many things, such as the goa-trancers bitching, i know cause i bitch sometimes too, only i try not to sit in the side because of it (i tend not to sit at all ). but to me the crowd is on the same level with the music, if people who come to the party are there only for the coolness of it, then i think it sucks! these are usually people who come, but dance with a frown on their faces, or sit glooming in the corner all party-long, and i bitch about that, cause it spoils my mood too, i like seeing people wearing their happy faces at parties. so, you might say i'm an elitist for thinking myself to be more of a "trancer" than most, but that's because i REALLY love the music and vibe, and unfortunately, not many people not many people come to the parties for that.
zombie, your words were really true, yours are the reasons i don't like the oma-coma like parties, they feel fake to me. parties with only "ashkenazim" might be nice to look at for an "ashkenazi" like me, but they lack the spirit that you can only find with diversity. i too, thought a while ago about the first party i had in israel after my trip, where on arriving, an arab guy offered me a bong hit these days, it's not to be found, from arabs or others.
but on the other hand, there are always like traveller said, those buggers who don't give a rat's ass about anyone else, and just go divng into someones back, or put out cigarettes on people's hands without even saying sorry. and those, unfortunately are always arsim.
so, all in all, you can't always judge a book by it's cover, but usually, you can that's why i like getting to parties, and catch glimpses of many people i know from other parties, cause that's when i know i'm in good company, and nothing could bring me down, and people will only take me higher.

i know ppl which don t like trance itself much (...they never listen to it at home, prefer 60-70 ) but they actually like it very much to go to parties (...open-air ! )

...my cents about the importance of the croud...

The crowd as u all said is very important part of a party. 4 me, dancing in nature with someone i don't know, but at the same time we r best friends, pumping each other, lifting each other, smiling an insane smile 2 each other, is what trance is all about. Accepting everyone and together creating a great sphere of positive vibe is what trance is all about....           The Only True Freedom is Freedom From the Heart Desire
