*** One usual boring night at home, connected to the Internet ***

"hmm... let's see...... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.....................
25, 26, 27, 28, 29.....................................
63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68...........................................
125, 126, 127, 128.............. 156............... 184.............. 209, 210, 211, 212, 213..214!!"

this is what i did yesterday..
what is 'this' ? valid question...
this is how many music labels are recorders in psyshop...

now please don't start the "they are not all for trance" or "tell us something new" or "what's your point" or "did you really count them one by one" phrases...

i know that it is a zingabillion-time discussed subject and you can always delete it if it gets much space but for those who still have a problem in understanding the message:

DO YOU STILL BELIEVE THAT HAVING MANY LABELS DOES GOOD TO OUR MUSIC ???

(and you are lucky i forgot how to make them size 72, bold, underline and with spitting fires from inside them..!)           in search for an answer...

yes i think that many labels its very good to our music since its mean more variety in sounds and direction our music takes. also usualy newcomers labels can realy surprise u while old ones mostly or fit your taste and u have their cds on junk status or u just ignore them if u dont like their sound.

and i have 20 finger btw           Believe your soul !

You are funny man!

My answer may seem odd, but (SIZE 72) many labels DO good to our music! Why?

1st because of monopoly, which would restrict a lot the number of artists imo because of style, innovative stuff. Actually, it's sad that there IS a "monopoly" with respect to prices. Cd's always cost about the same price. I wonder why, if there exists so many labels, one label doesnt reduce the prices of their releases -- to gain the competition. Maybe, because there is not enough competition... But this is another subject (trade) which I refuse to participate. A.Rosengren openned a nice topic about it, but I definately have no guts to join the

2nd With so many labels, there is more chance that you can find 1 if you produce, therfore more doors are opened to new artists and new stuff. It's not like only the very famous artists can find labels, like it is in many other styles of music. This is gr8! But, still, could be better...

3rd I forgot what I was going to say...

U disagree? What is YOUR position?

respect!           cna't find it

And these are the ones recorded just in Psyshop.

I dont know if many labels are good for the scene but noone has the right to refuse or restrict to someone to create his own label to release whatever he likes.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

People complain about bad music, this genre is growing... buy what u like and dont buy what u dont like.... u cant expect all the labels to be in you´re taste!

Lots of labels isn't bad.
But when it comes to such numbers, and considering the low amount of trance listeners...
It just fucks up everything.

yes mike's right!
it's relatively easy to start a label these days. and the amount of buyers (not listeners mike) out there is ridiculous.           REHAB is for quitters

Well, consider that at least 20% of the labels on psyshop aren't working anymore. 20% more are 1 release lables (only 1 Cd and that's it) and at least 20% are House/Techno lables.

What do you get??           Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

i know... 40%!

any way.
yeah, many labels r good for the music.
tho it might have its bad side, i believe that if there whouldnt be so many labels we whouldnt get all the "crapy" releases.

so to the question...
i think that labels that ectualy have a stetment and something to say or express, its more then welcome.

the small labels will dissappear sooner or later, there aren't enough trance listeners to buy their cd's.           u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

It is good in some ways, bad in others.

I do like the variety offered by having a lot of labels. Even my favorite established labels (like Digital Structures/VSUAL, Kamaflage, Hom-Mega) were all new startups at one point and have developed good *unique* sounds.

But, considering the low number of buyers in this community, there are definitely too many labels popping up all the time. It was already difficult to sustain the number of labels there were a couple years ago. But there are so many more now, and not very many more (if not less) people buying trance CDs than a couple years ago.

My general feeling is that if somebody wants to start a new label, they should have something new to bring to the table. Too many labels are formed by people to release their own or their friends' music, but really no new sounds from what is already out there. IMO, that is NO reason to begin a label.

If you are a good producer, your stuff will get released eventually. Just keep at it.

I suspect also some people form labels for personal gain (ie, connections, publicity, gigs, etc), but I cannot say anything for sure about that (except for that it is a selfish reason, IMO).

There should be growth and new lables, but I think it is too fast now. For every brand new label I see with a CD on psyshop or saikosounds, maybe only one in 3 actually has something new. The rest are doing something that is already being done. I would prefer to see fewer new labels for now with the existing labels and the news ones offering new sounds doing a little better.

Flame away.
