My 15" MacBook Pro is not even 2 years old & for no good reason the hard drive has now crash twice within 4 months!!
$300 a pop to fix because the warranty is only for the first month.
I'm so tempted to chuck the piece of shit in the bin & go buy a windows laptop for $600 instead.

My old Windows 98SE PC with a "demo" version of Logic 5.5 was much more stable than my MacPro and MacBook Pro, running legit Logic 8.
Apple is the devil, alas Logic is not available on PCs and I ain't thinking about getting another computer to set up Hackintosh now.

apple are the modern it nazis.
yes the hardware and macOs is sexy.. but the way they approach their business in making their stuff uncompatible to other file formats and other hardware (no usb at ipad and iphone, lol) and the fact how much you actually pay for their stuff (even though they do not give a shit about under what conditions the stuff is produced in china) stopped me buying their shit. fuck you apple. they have the largest amount of cash any company EVER collected in the entire history of mankind and do not pay back to their shareholders or do ANYTHING with it to better working conditions of their contract partners in china or any other part of the world...

my mbp is rocking since 3 years..no luck man, it s like that wiht all laptops it s lotery.. can t stand pc laptops personaly.. but for my studio i will make myself a nice hackintosh in the futur.. |

i dont have a prob with my mbp  i just love it, its a bliss after years of Windows related agonys, but i am scared that my hdd in the mbp is going through rough situations that are not planned by the manufacturer.
for example you get to a gig, and a table is not a table but a plank with two PA Subs underneath, and ofcourse they dont even think they could add some absorbers on the plank so my mbp wont jump around. Scaaary.
Thinkin about puting a SSD in it to prevent the hdd dying on me in critical situations.

I have heard this so often, especially regarding apple notebooks. Get yourself a PC, if necessary make it a hackintosh, but honestly, why bother? Since they have Win 7, there is absolutely no reason for apple for me, win 7 is the most stable platform for music I have ever come across, and if you look at the right computer models, you won't have hardware issues either... and you are right, Apple charges exorbitant prices for fixing their shit, and often it's not even fixed 100%! Sorry to hear that mate. btw. check into Lenovo...

They ended up fixing it for free after a debate about how unfair the short warranty they'd given me was, and they fixed it in 24 hours.
I'll keep using it for now as my budget is a bit tight but will change if it breaks down again.
Thanks for the positive replies & tips on brands etc.

I take it back even more. My 11 month son cracked my wife's iPad mini screen. Took it to their store. Even out of warranty they replaced it with a brand new iPad mini free of charge!!
I'm a sucker for good customer service lol.

i dont know if you agree with me guys but you take a mac (is more expensive from a pc ok) but you take a powerful machine too with legal OS and with 150 euro more you have also a powerful and legal DAW (logic) to work. i think is good deal.
all these years i am a pc user and i'm thinking when i go for a new computer to go for mac.
most of my friends they dont have problem at all with mac.
