for desktop i like more to build pc as the mac are expensive.. and pc are easy to upgrade . for laptop i really dig the mbp..it feel great to use, logic is argably one if not the best daw to make psytrance and the cheapest one.. that reduce slighty the price of the mbp compared to pc with cubase or live + third party plugins.. still the mbp is very expensive but i would rebuy it wihtout thinking twice..

thought daws don t really matter ,all are probably very capable ,you buy komplete 9 and you re done for plugins ...after it depends the needs..with hardware i find logic really good to work with. easy integration and no nightmare with dodgy timings ect but this might depends of the whole config...

The only apple device I ever owned was an Ipod.
The piece of garbage kept dying on me, 3 within the first year under warranty which all got replaced, but the 4th just outside of the 12 month warranty period, so there I was stuck with my 500 Euro broken Ipod.

harddiscs and cd readers in mac intels are very very bad unless u have for some lucky an stable version of it based on model numbers usualy shipped for some speciic countries.. APPLE SUX not only because of those faulty macbooks but because they havent done anything to fix it since the day they created macbooks. Seems it s on purpose.my first macbook had faulty HARDDISC and it was like 6 years ago then we had a second macbook ( my wife) and faulty hardisc and in 2013 lots of people still havin it unless you bought it in some specific countries.

desktop pc self builded is the best think in my opinion specialy now with reaper.

u ever tried do a song in reapeR? imo people who are usin reaper nowadays s one step forward into music production behind the myths that all daw are the same. the sound engine can be the same for all ( not sure bout ableton coz ableton can realy fucks up the quality of the audio if u are warpin and playin with stretch ) but the acessibility of how you do things is what makin daws in advantages....and reaper have some specific things that specily for PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC ( not necessarily PSYTRANCE ) it takes a lot of advantage.... i dont know bout the midi enviroment coz i m doin records in ableton to import to reaper and produce the track in there but when you already have the audio material...reaper is the rip of your life.

anyway it also envolves a perspective of age and generations..obviously the old dudes that are usin logic/cubase since always will have no advantage into reaper but for people who are not stabilized in any of the old DAWS . reaper is THE Daw.

yeah made a few tunes in reaper and enjoyed it too.. something made me come back to cubase but don t remember what..i think it was cause of hardware integration or midi that was not that great at that times few years ago.. now it s so powerfull it sure worth a try for someone looking for a daw.. i think i don t really need that power for my needs, just sound design..

This my 3rd macbook over a period of 3 years. After every year my Macbook Pro 13 goes through about 6-7 repairs.

I've got a replacement 3 times now and the new one just went through a logic board replacement. Apple is terrible. They haven't fully worked out the conducting issues and all in all isn't as sturdy as made out to be.

its funny...everyone raves about how apple is so sturdy/stable etc..

but (and yes this is small sample size and not an indication of a larger whole necessarily....) I have seen more apple laptops give stage issues like glitching and whatnot than I have seen from PCs in the past couple years.

However its entirely possible that I just notice those glitches more BECAUSE its an apple and I'm looking for it to fuck up and with PCs I'm not as hyper focused.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

the thing bout apple is if u usin external synths its going to be tighter and less jitterin than in windows. you will have less work to deal with latency.

i ve never been able to record my synths 100 por cent tight in windows 7 enviroments. it will always drift a little even if it s insignificant it s in there ..... i can imagine this kind of thing bein a realy trouble if u are full of analogs modular.

i wonder if XP would have better timing.... when i got my synths i was already in 7 and wouldnt notice that aspect of drift in time.

Apple desktops are top notch form my experience. The Intel MB / MBP are not as tough as the home models.

Hackintosh is easy these days, I only care about OS X, doesnt matter what machine its running on.           www.harmlessprankster.bandcamp.com

I love PCs, since they game out. I think Apple is for babies who just dont want to go under the hood. Its like you are buying PC from the catalog, you never get good one..

Best way is to combining it on your own, buy all the flagship model parts separate for your PC and its still cheaper than Apple. Dont pay the image..

To me only troubles with PC's are came from motherboards, but when you hit the good one, it will last a decade easily..

And i have to say that Windows 7 is very very stable. Works like a wet dream, every time..

Aa and yeah, i'm talking a desktop when making music, who is making music with laptop? Really..
