How you deal with depression?

When I feel depressed, I try to talk my depression into killing itself.

That’s how bad our self image is, we are in many ways in the gutter, full of guilt, reppressed and malnourished and can not aspire to search for the higher realms of existence or enlightment. That mountian is too high for what we have learned about ourselves in our dysfunctional society, better go focus on money and your new job instead, haha. So the holy path is left behind.. its too holy for us. Because our self esteem is so messed up that we do not feel worthy of being like Budhas or enlightened people, so we never even think of going in that direction and if we do its with great struggles and set backs because of our doubtful minds. We think liberation is a throne that is reserved for the saints and super beings, not for mere humans. Can we love humanity more and give it the gift of liberation? We look up to the saints but do not look up to ourselves. I mean what treasure and light do we see in those saints that we can not see in ourselves? The thing is we are shrunken in fear and we can not grow because of it. It’s FEAR that makes us deny ourselves the freedom to give that gift of enlighntment to ourselves.

So free your mind and power up! We have to start believing in ourselves at deeper and higher levels and beliving in this world in new ways. Bring the love to this earth and bring it yourself!

This society does not make it easy, you look around and it’s almost like a soul killer. Full of mental trash and cheap highs, all about competition, and heartless commercialism that feed and reinforce the idea that we as humans are not worth very much and can not create the world that we would like. So it’s hard to feel the magic sometimes and that makes you want to just give up. But take it easy, just explore you mind, challenge all your perceptions about yoruself and about the world because in these days the truth is in the underground, desiguised. There are many traps. There is fear disguised as morality, sometimes fear disguised as spirituality too. Discover the truth for yourself and let your guide be your heart so you know the path is good and groovy. Yeah the truth is not always easy to follow, but you will always find life nourishing liberating energy there! Goodness for one and all. Where we all want to be.

But anyway man, I think I am now going into some kind of tangent. But I think it still relates to depression. See I get motivated by the idea that we are amazing living beings living in an AMAZING universe and that much of what we think is reality maybe in the end is just our own collective or even personal perception. So I get motivated to break the grid, to step outside the box, to break free from all I have been told so I can have a second of pure thought with my own eyes and heart so I dont sell myself and the vision I have for humanity short. And that little breath of fresh air makes me believe in the world and I often find there that the impossible is not necessesarily impossible. Because when you break outside the grid the rules are different and there is new hope for everything, including depression and many problems we have.

Like Terrence Mckenna said here:
'Everything you know is wrong.' But that is a very liberating understanding, because if everything you know is wrong, then all the problems you thought were insoluble can be framed differently.

I too had been depressed for the last year or so ,lost my sister & suffered a major heart break. That combined with the fact i was in a new city , new job for this now ex Gf who completely disregarded my sacrifice for her despite my situation and the 4 years we spent together , dumped me for some dude who she only spent six months with. I was shattered to say the least , totally alien to and disoriented by the kind of reality i was thrown into. I was depressed but i had to continue; struggling at work with my frame of mind , each and every day being a war with myself, with this broken heart and suicidal thoughts clouded by anger and regret , a predicament which I couldn't imagine even in my wildest dreams. I went into a vicious cycle of happy pills which furthered my dependence and depression to extent i brought home a pack of sleep pills to wake up dead the next day. I thought of my dead sister and my parents for whom life would be a meaningless void without their only surviving child. I cut the self -pity and thought about the only people that mattered to me in my life.

Each and every day since that night has been a half step in a flight of stairs that can be climbed with belief in wanting to get better without over dependance on anything be it people, love , alcohol or substances. Like Aluxe very rightly says "you can not give yourself the freedom and love you want unless you believe that you are worthy of that love and greatness" , that is the key. I feel better but still not a 100% , won some battles in this war that felt un-surmountable at the start but which only now I have begun to feel a little victorious over.

A good work out routine is a must but in the end is a mere catalyst in a chemical reaction which has so many other variables . You have to find those thoughts that trigger happy emotions to connect again with the basic part of yourself giving little pleasure rather than the one seeking instant gratification and quick wins over small gains. Its a slow process that takes time . There is truly nothing in this world that is unachievable with true intent , courage and belief .

Amazing post Aluxe and nice comeback from the dark side exotic.

I was depressed one and a half year ago after a breakup with my fiance when i literally went berserk. But this breakup made me grow tremendously in other areas of life, and helped me become centered. It now feels as if it was planted in my life so i could grow in different areas like work, art, music, meditation, traveling etc. all without any psychedelic substances. Personally i feel once you have learnt enough from psychedelics and there are enough open doors in your mind, you should apply it in your day to day life and integrate whatever you have learnt into your life. You don't need to expand your consciousness again and again through psychedelics, there are other methods such as meditation, exercise, trekking, yoga etc. These methods have helped me grow in life and grow out of the depression immensely. Yoga increases GABA levels in your brain which is extremely relaxing and exercise releases serotonin in your brain which makes you feel happy. Focusing to be my best at work and becoming a functional individual performing at my full potential was another uplifter. Another thing that can help alleviating depression is having pets cause when you pet a dog or a cat it releases a chemical called oxytocin which instantly relaxes and de-stresses you while giving a feeling of well being.

Also, people may mistake mood fluctuations for depression. Happiness and unhappiness alternates in life and moods come and go. You have to learn to spectate all these emotions and stay in control without getting carried away.

well using psychedelic drugs can make indeed your depression worse ! and its only a clearaty for the moment ! So accept the depression what you have ! Depression is a also a welknown for people who are genious like albert einstein , famaous artist and so on ! So we can see depression as a curse but you can learn allot about yourselve and others ! your unique and you feel allot of emotions from external sources ! sit down for a while a breath and concentrate on your breathing everything what you hear around you ( a door what slams , cars passing by ) you give it a place by reconize it and keep foccusing on your breathing ! you find out that you feel close again with yourselve !! in moments that you feel down or make it a daily habbit , and also importent some caring people around you ! and communication is a good one !! i been in therapy by myselfe and learned the tibetan breathing techic ( see breading ) it helped me allot !! its help you to stand in the now ! ok bless yourselve with love your a beautyfull human being ! remember genius people suffres from depression and they where needed in this world and reached more levels then somebody who wasnt depressed !!!
