Yes, that awfull thing that keeps you infront of the computer from the moment you wake up to the first hours in the morning.

The thing that powers procrastination and keeps you down...

When you feel depressed for long periods, more than 3 months, what you do for getting out of the hole?

... it always has a reason, and these need to be thought over a great deal and analyzed (meditation / quiet thinking time / listening to music that bears some meaning to you helps).
More often than not, YOU know the answers to what's bothering you - people recommend shrinks but they are just giving you back the knowledge that your brain already possesses, and they make you pay for it - useless. But then again some people need to be 'told' this by others in order to crush their egos, so that the point gets across convincingly.

Locate, isolate and eradicate - in a rational state of mind (without the influence of any stimulants).

It's takes a while, but dividends come around in the long run!! Don't expect overnight results - it just doesn't work that way!!

when your doing something and it doesn't feel good - stop doing it!! Indulge in some other activities that gives you satisfaction (personally i go to my eternal buddy = xbox360)!

And don't wait too long to initiate self therapy - the longer you play the waiting game the harder it becomes to reverse the polarity of the black hole of depression!!

This journey has many perils - but there is a destination to be found at the end of the road!!
And well traveled, the satisfaction of reaching your goal is enhanced!!

What you guys are talking about is feeling depressed, not depression.

Depression is a serious mental illness.

It's not the same as feeling down or sad. Hence the topic title is totally misleading.

Depressions DO NOT need to have a reason. Mostly it is spontaneous, and to a certain degree physically caused.

But if you're feeling depressed for a long tim, seek psychotherapeutic help. I can understand a certain aversion to psychotherapists, but they are definetely not there to tell you what's wrong with you. They are here to help you seeing yourself from the distance in order to hunt down the rotten parts, so to speak. And they can give lots of insights and proposals on how to deal with your problems.

I stop sitting in front of the computer (doing nothing) in the morning/night.
I agree to what Anak says above - and quickly concludes that you are just suffering from lazyness.
In Scandinavia we call the solution to the "3 months down" .... SPRING and here it is, oh joy!

I understand your points but real meditation (and I believe it is not really possible for everyone and you have to sacrafice a bit) ,probably,will solve more than a thereupist could ever do.
I wont get deeper since I find it a bit useless on the net and I'm not the right person for kinda explaining or preaching sth like this on the net,and I know also not much about it just enough for me etc but if you want or feel it might is sth about it for you, you will find your way into it.

If you hear a "hidden" scream for love inside you (maybe from the bottom of a paining heart),this could be the best way to get real inner light in life - as the first step to a very positive life.IMO only of course.
I know what I'm saying here (that it can be more about it),it saved once my life ,believe it or laugh about it
Long long time ago.

In other cases thereupist might be the way if meditation is not "connecting" you so to say.And most probably in a lot of cases.

well you understand me afterall, I have gone to group therapy, last year, and it help me out once, but now it was returning. You feel how it overpowers you.

And you know it cause your brain isnt working properly: you dont eat well, you dont sleep at correct times, and you dont have motivation to do anything at all, you procrastinate until the infinite and seek for adictions that keep you out of reality.

But just today I got a job, and instantly felt the depression slipping away a little, so I can get some momentum working and leave it all behind again

^^ the advice anak gave is very true, and the true cure also starts within you.

it is not an easy process, by the contrary it is very harduos task..the path is long and sometimes it feels like a torture.

my friend that it is an illness that aflicts lots of people, and you are not alone in the world, and fortunatly it has a cure.

for instance one thing that i recomend you is acunpunture, but you must seek what suits you best


ps: if you do drugs you better stop it, or reduce it..mix drugs when you are not fine within your soul, may lead to uncertain results me thinks.

ps2: and also avoid things that cause you stress, like to much computer or video games, ans speccially avoid things with negativitie, for example like watching the news, where most of the times all it speaks is death, steal, kidnapping, disasters problems or the world etc etc.

try to make some day activies, like walk, or make some sport.

you fill your life with something useful. like helping people who are less fortunate than you, volunteer at hospital treating children with cancer, or any kind of activity where you can give to others.

depression is something that i always connect to another attitude towards trancing.
during such periods i just stop to really dance and trance. and i miss it like hell. life gets pretty much predictable and boring if one stops to trance...

that is the reason i dont take psychotherapists so seriously. well at least never took one into savior. can they offer a trance experience connected to a dance into the paralell dimensions . these other types of realities...

and do i inhale. or do i not. is anyone interested to steal my soul and hijack it into the stars?
and then if i am depressed, but really badly depressed, i try to visit a dark forest during a night and just follow the flow of sound. get where it gets. it helps to go beyond the boundary as often as possible.
