I don't agree you don't need to tune it to bpm ...

theres no need to agree, no one said to do so .... makes me sad ppl seem even not be willed to read. theres no need for tuning at all, i just said it makes a difference, how ever you will tune. well, im out, seems no one gets the point. okaydokays, fine with that, but force me to repeat myself again and again makes me wanna facepalm.....

oh
I calculated this long ago so its nice to see some people did it too . I thought it was only me. So i tried that already before you mentioned it here. so its cool to see i read it. why sad? ... it's ok its great you shared thank you ! maybe i explained myself wrong.           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

nahh, im sorry, should´ve split that up cause my feelings werent caused by your reply. but i anyways got ya wrong

well i just wanted to leave some basics and some thought behind. no rules, no harm, just some way of looking at things. no recipe, just an idea. i just took that root thingy into account cause many artists tune to their root (in fact most i know, instead of using samples). BUT this root can be any. the math i showed off here was just to give a sense and a basis to figure the math behind music, but most naggers come by and nag around this rule beeing senseless. well never gave that as rule and never took it as. things are just like they are weither we take or leave it.

i tried to put down everything one needs to know to achieve kick/bass one can work with and went some further to show how one can even easily calculate some stuff if one´s bored. i did that cause its asked daily here. well i know it was some rude, but damn.....

excuse me for getting you wrong, never mind. glad at least someone knows what im talknig about.           FUCK GENRES, LOVE MUSIC!!!!

Hey thank you very much for your insight man! still learning a lot =)
I have a question when you say to double the frequency of the kick to get the top end, when I reach almost the 5 khz it gives me a note of d7 since my root note is d4 on 138 bpm, but when I analyse it on voxengo span, its not showing that is on the correct frequency am I not understanding something? with my low kick on 40Hz it works great on D0 and it does show me the correct frequency but I dont know why it doesn't happen the same when I analyse my top end, thank you very much! =)           http://soundcloud.com/carlos-p-0101001

thanks for your kind words, always glad if its of some help to anyone or at least gives some input to think about

im not quite sure, there could be several reasons causing this. tried a different analyizer, results ? how much is it off?

@Soma Link

you still need to understand FFT in order to grasp fully what the analyser is showing you. Things like "block size" have a huge impact on the graphics, and there's a good reason for it. Thing is: if you pick some note, like d7, and there's no pitch modulation or anything fancy - just a stable note going - then you can rest assured that it's tuned to the frequency you know that note to fall on (at least the fundamental), even when some FFT analyser says otherwise - that's more to do with the options of it, then anything else. I wouldn't say it lies, it does help to get the big picture, but only when you know how to interpret it and how to set up the options for your needs, otherwise it can even be a bit misleading and confusing...

so search for it, read the manual and give it some thought. it will all become more clear to you as your understanding of FFT gets better
